What is the deal with this "monster" thing?

in Lord of the Rings Online
I don't understand it. Ok so Turbine finally caved and are going to let us "play" as Mordor. I'm not sure how this whole monster mechanic is going to work and more importantly why implement this? Why make the gameplay different? They should have just made the orcs/goblins a playable race to being with.

     Monster play is Turbines form a PVP. Since there are only "good" races, there isn't any pvp. So they added Monster Play. It lets you take controll of a monster in the game and play it in a Monster Play area. Also, Mordor isn't a monster, it's a place.

    Ugh, all of J.R.R. Tolkien's work is about the good side fighting the bad side, prevailing, and winning. There is not enough bad side lore to create a playable race. There is not much info about orc, uruk, etc. history. The orcs were made by Morgoth by twisting elves, uruk-hai were made by Saruman by crossing goblin men and trolls. Their only purpose in life is to fight for their master. It just does not work in Tolkien's world. Sorry. No playable bad races.
