Mac+BC or Windows?

I've been thinking about shoeing in the money for a new, decently fast computer. I'm currently using a pretty out of date PPC Mac Mini and love macintosh but most of the games that I've been wanting to play ,and have been deprived of for the last year, run on windows (been stuck with WoW and MoM). I'm trying to decide whether it'd be better to customize a nice windows computer with a big display or just go for newer Macbook or Mini.

My dilemma is that I don't know whether an Intel Macbook running Bootcamp would be faster or slower than a fairly nice Windows computer that I can pick the parts and update myself. I can tell you some of the specs I was looking at if need be...

So which would be my best bet? Thanks in advance.

Well im going to suggest you go with windows, but really it all depends on you. I choose windows because I game alot and build my own Computers (cant put mac on a homebrew).

I remember when Bootcamp first came out, Gamespot did an article on it. They did some test and what not using a MacBook and a PC with same specs, and the MacBook actually ran Windows FASTER than the PC, but I believe gaming performance was down a tiny bit, nothing major.

If youve been using a MAC for years and like it, then stick with the Mac and give Bootcamp a go. But if not then go with a PC. Just remember, lifespan of a MAC can be twice and more longer than that of a PC. Id switch to MAC if the gaming support was there, and I dont want to deal with bootcamp.

    The way I see it.

Mac ---> music editing and heavy graphics work

PC   ---> gaming and everything else

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

Aright thanks, I think I'll go for the windows comp. That just leaves me with the question, Vista or XP? If Vista really takes a lot of energy out of the comp I'll go for XP...What do you all think.

Thats been a big debate here on the forums. Its really your decision. I personally think Vista is great and id go with it, but other would beg to differ. Vista will undoubtedly be better in the near future, but theres debate on if it is right now.

no point is buying XP now that vista is out buy a copy of vista get the best pc you can afford it will most likley last about 2 years before you need to upgrade but youll still have a copy of vista to install on your (then) new PC

EDIT: about what he^^ said MS arnt that bad most likley Vista will have a service pack out in around 6-12 months to iron out any bugs left over from development. and weekley downloads to fix larger more pressing problems. but as with any software make sure you check for updates (but im sure you know this)
