Starcraft MMORPG?

ive been told by a friend there may be a 3D Starcraft MMORPG.its supposed to be called Starcraft Online, like sc wasnt already online

so id love it if u proved me wrong. i hope thre isnt a sc mmo.

It's not completely unlikely that the next Blizzard MMO would be based in the Starcraft Universe, but since it's their IP and they didn't do it yet I'd say that there is no such thing.

this isn't the first one to talk about this MMO but will it happen i don't think so. We will see, i don't think blizzard will make another one any time soon

we are going to more likely see WoW2 before SCU. i wouldn't be totaly opposed to the idea of SCU if it was done well.

They said in an interview, that their next mmorpg will be something new and innovative and not a WoW clone. This should be interesting.

starcraft, obviously a space-age game.. umm i don't see it staying RTS, cause lets be honest RTS games just aren't as big anymore. sure plenty of people play warcraft 3, even starcraft: brood war, but if it was an RTS, blizzard would have to put a lot more effort to create something visually orgasmic for all the original starcraft fans, who wear old-person diapers now, to wet themselves (and not care because the diaper does its job well).  alright, that was gross..  but still let's look at whats available now for our sci-fi fancies. star wars, star trek, stargate..  lets keep this "star" trend alive eh?  Starcraft: Universe, the MMO.  Choose your race, choose your class.. it's all workable if there's enough thought put into it. even better, it's space..   fly around in space in your wraith, jump into an overlord that takes you to another part of the planet, the possibilities are flourishing..   of course when i vision that I take a real good look and see WoW, starcraft style.. but ya know..  ppl would play that.  who wouldnt want to fly to a Zerg controlled planet and mow down a bunch of zerglings......  damn.

Considering that Blizzard had that April Fools thing last year (or year be4?) based around starting false rumours about development of a new "Starcraft MMO", i find it hard to believe that they'd turn around now and all of a sudden say 'hey it wasnt a joke, we're really doing it'.

It would make so much more sense if there was a Diablo MMO... I remember hearing rumours about a Diablo MMO years ago. I'm sure that Blizzard would be much more interested in continuing their original RPG  line by turning it into an MMORPG. On the flip side, however, what about a Lost Vikings MMO?

hmm  but Diablo, the first, also was rumored to have a "secret cow level" and to our surprise Blizzard decided to turn that rumor into reality for their next project, D2. theres no telling what they'll do

An mmo would be good, if it was f2p, but im such a big fan of Star Craft, but so poor, cant afford to pay monthl...

Main Thing with a Starcraft MMO is would there be enough Classes?  And how many Races is there?

If they do make a Starcraft MMO it will have to be changed a bit so I doubt it would be called Starcraft.

Id love to see a Starcraft MMO. we are lacking for a decent sci fi ...and SC has the elements to be what RF on-line let us down on. A MMORPG with rich content that has 3 waring player faction ...



I love warcraft tho, and think Blizzard could make a really really good SC mmo and I hope they do it!!!!

If they were to make a starcraft MMO, they would have to release a new RTS first that provides the story, new races, locations and other such stuff to base an MMO on, they did that with WC3:The frozen thrown to beef up WoW.

There's alot of upcoming sci-fi mmorpgs, try search for some info!. Besides that I dont agree there enough story behind starcraft to make a great mmorpg, but that's just me.

Yes the Story is what I'm worried about maybe they will make another RTS like WC3. But still  theres not enough back story behind it to become an MMORPG.

I have a feeling we will see a Starcraft Online someday.  I do not think it will be a Blizzard - WoW clone, as stated earlier in an interview.  SCO will be their "new innovative mmo."  Hopefully it is a little more hardcore than WoW.  WoW is just to light-hearted for me.  I don't see a WoW 2 coming out before a SCO, this is because WoW is so successfull that no one will want to leave to go to a 2nd one, they will have to just keep expanding on it.  WoW will be here till the end of MMOs.  SCO, IMO, is very likely, but very far away.  Maybe 10 or more years from now.  Just a hypothesis, don't take it to the bank

What would make more sense to me is if they released an RTS sequel to Starcraft, and flesh out the game universe a bit more, in preparation for the big SC MMO.  Almost in exactly manner as Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft.

Theres plenty of story in starcraft plus they can add onto it at any time. It would obviously be an MMOFPS like planetside only without lag and well made because its Blizzard. I think they would make the Zerg an unplayable race that is threatening everyone while the terran and protoss players fight eachother. 

Diablo would be a great MMO also but it would have to be hardcore pvp to set it apart from WoW.

I can actually see Starcraft Online being produced and coming out. It seems like a valuable idea Blizzard might take up. Its actually got the perfect setting for an MMO really... just as the Warcraft series did.

However, i don't believe they would have said anything about it yet and thus its probably just a rumor.

After ghost it seems Blizzard has left Starcraft to die.

well lets see... blizzards first real big game was... warcraft, followed by diablo, then warcraft2, then starcraft, then broodwar, then diablo 2, then warcraft 3, and now WoW...

seeing as how warcraft was their first big game, it makes sense to me that they would make their first mmo in the warcraft universe, and personally i can see them making a diablo mmo b4 starcraft, but a starcraft mmo is not completely out of the question... personally i would like to see a starcraft 2 or a diablo 3 b4 blizzard does another mmo...

They would really need to bring out a Starcraft 2 at least to flesh out the sotryline and also to add more races. As far as professions go those could be built into the game as far as crafters go! Would be cool to have a crafter to build terran tanks and ships. Same goes for Protoss too. The hard thing with the Zerg is they are pretty set a far as professions go I.E. a zergling can only be a zergling in that kind of hive mindset. An mmo of SC would be cool if done well.

mmm no I don't see a mmo for starcraft anytime soon.

however if they were to make one it would be nothing like your norm MMO.

I see it being more like a galactical venture, many planets, space travel/warfare, but like lets say WoW and Freelancer(or possibly EVE Online) had a baby.. there's Starcraft the MMO. with major differences of course.

one minute you're machine gunning zerglings on the Zerg homeplanet, next thing you're flying a wraith away from a bunch of Devourers on your tail. the only problem is the MMOFPSRPG hybrid is difficult to do, maybe possible with instancing but difficult nonetheless
