Trial or something similiar for this game?

Hi guys!

I recently made an account here on mmorpg.com, as i want to *learn* more about the coming mmos.

Since I`ve only played DAoC,WoW and GW so far, im not really a veteran in these things ^^

But i already read quite many  positive oppinions etc. about Vanguard and this game sounds really interesting. On the other hand there are also many people who say Vanguard is just bull****.

Because of that fact i am still thinking about buying it but im just not sure ^^

So my question: Is there anything like a trial/demo i can try for some days?Or do they maybe have something like these friend-keys in WoW? Or will i have to wait some more weeks/months until I can try for free?  If somebody could answer me this question and maye also give a link, I`d be aweful ;) I have been searching for already 2-3 hours but haven`t found anything yet...

PS: Sorry for bad English, I`m pupil and still trying to learn the language properly ^^

So long,

Soul

I've been wondering how long it will be before they offer a free trial. My machine crapped out just before open beta so I missed that opportunity. Now that I have a better rig, I'd like to find out if all the skepticism I've thrown at this game was justified or not. It's impossible to make a determination about the games quality based on user comments; it's still too much of a flame war.

They may want to wait till the game is more polished to let anyone try it out before they buy. But if they were so broke that they had to release early, they may be forced to open up free trials just to boost revenue. I suspect we will see a trial offer sooner rather than later. Everyone willing to buy the game sight unseen has probably already done so, and in 6 or 8 months the competition will only get worse, they may as well get it out there.

I think sooner rather than later they will do trial BUT

    and a big but

they need to sort out compression on this as the file size is 16gb before patches, now in UK most people are restricted to the amount they can download (be it 2gb amonth or unlimited downloads at half a meg)

This is gonna get extremely time consuming to do as it would require servers capable of handling these kind of downloads so this is what is stopping the free downloads saga

Why not just splash out to PLAY.com where you can get a copy for 17.99, thats less than what you spend in teh pub on a friday night getting drunk, why not get a friend to chip in and give him 10 day pass?

18 GBP, thats about $35. True, it's cheaper than I've seen it in the states, but it's still about 4200 JPY more than I'm willing to spend to see if a game sucks balls or not.

35 bucks would get me drunk all weekend, and I'd still feel better Monday morning than I would 'ave if I'd wasted it on crappy game.

Based on nothing whatsoever, I would not expect any free trial for a couple of months at least. Their first priorities seem to be cleaning up all the bug, adding content, and further class balancing. When they've got a handle on those things, then maybe offer a trial, after all, you want to give a good impression during that trial period.

You can make the argument that $35 gets ya drunk all weekend, but the $15 a month it costs to play a game boils down to 50 cents a day. That's damn cheap entertainment for people who end up playing a couple of hours a day...
