RF Online Banner = Hilarity

KurushKurush Member Posts: 1,303

Did you guys see it? It's one of the banners at the top of this site.

"RF Online . . .

No carebears allowed!"

I'm curious. Who is allowed, then? Old L2 players who actually wanted a game with MORE grind? Bots?

C'mon, man. Can't you get into the spirit of game bashing like everybody else?

only the fastest potion spammers are allowed in, notice how they also say "exhilerating PVP"? well it is only exhilierating if you can move your hand up and down as fast as a two dollar hooker

The only game I really used to bash was EVE, and that wasn't really because of the game, but because of its fanbois who had a "Play EVE or die attitude" for a while.

edit: to avoid confusion, as I get angry eve fanbois pming me already, What I meant is that I indeed disliked EVE for the reasons I posted, I posted my opinion about EVE more then about other games.

so you can stop pming me now, thanks.

EVE fanboys defend EVE as much as you defend Archlords. I dont see anything wrong in that.

    Lol@ the ad for sure.

I find it funny that never once did the pvp excite me so much as frustrate with about half your inventory being pots, it came down to who was richer than whom.

I also find amusing the ad about "find lost mmo friends", it's almost the gooniest of the gooney friend finder ever.

    The market must be starving.

Poor Codemasters. Seriously. Oh well. At least they're more successful in this business than some publishers turned out to be.

Warner Brothers: We're no longer interested in supporting this game.

SOE: What? You released a game? Oh . . . THAT.

Warner Brothers: We're asking twenty thousand for it.

SOE: You mean twenty thousand cents, right?

Warner Brothers: *head downcast in shame* Yes.

The only positive I ever saw about this game was when the GM's made that video about those goldfarmers. That was actually hilarious.

That's an extremely poor reason to bash a game; because you don't like a few of the players.  Bash a game because you don't enjoy the gameplay and design, not because you are annoyed by forum posters.

After my exchanges with you, I'm not really surprised.

well hey, at least I don't start with insulting because someone disagrees with my view, unlike a certain poster who's name starts with an s. I find it quite funny that you continue to bash me only because I didn't agree with you in the UO thread. Very sad.

Same an MMO where it doesn't come down to the richest winning?

Seriously, if you're going to bash a game, at least give a legitimate argument.

    How is that not legitimate?

I played that steaming pile for quite a few months, sticking it out because ya know? I really like RvR.

When battles came down to a few left standing, those of us who were standing either owned 4 uber upgraded BMAU's in our packs, or over half our inventory of tier 3-4 pots.

I took down a freaking 45 acc  when I was  level 30 (bel sniper)  because he ran out of pots faster than I did, I'm am quite pleased to say thats some really messed up crap.

Explain to me how that is not a legit gripe about a craptastic system. You can say "Well he sucked", but the truth is; you can't suck at RFO, it's basically impossible.

Oh and lets get into how they added the auto pot feature to free up players from getting arthritus, yeah any game that adds a auto pot function to it.. You know it's gonna be a masher.

Thats my legitimate argument, your move sir.

You crack me up, all you ever do is bash UO stupidly because your hurting from the changes that where made years ago. Like i have said before its fair enough that your are upset about it, but to invade every UO post made with your pointless cries is just sad. So before you try to point out poor reasons to bash somthing try checking yourself first.

Iv had my disagreements with you before and you argue like a child. Iv also debated with Gameloading in the past atleast he gives mature responses.

Here you go! Couldn't find the actual download link for the video, I think they removed it shortly after it was released to the public.

First off, I meant to say name not same, so that must have looked really weird.

Second off, it's not a legitimate argument because every MMO has the same system where the richer or the person who's invested more time (a direct correlation to wealth pretty much), so if you're going to complain about an MMO, give a better argument then one that can apply to ANY MMO.

I can't think of many pvp based MMOs that actually come down SOLELY to the richest person winning. In Guild Wars (which isn't technically an MMO but it's the only pvp-based fantasy game that springs to mind), money will upgrade your gear but it's useless if you don't know how to play your class. In Eve-Online, using expensive modules in PvP will give you an edge over your opponent but carries risk since you lose them if you explode, which fits in with its risk versus reward schema. And if you don't know how to use your ship properly or are an inexperienced pilot, you're likely to lose it. You can't win by throwing more money into the fight than your enemy.

From the way RF Online is beinf described, it sounds like potions are literally a way to buy extra hitpoints. It's like Diablo 2 where people wouldn't pvp without full racks of full rejuvination potions. Eventually people had to make a no-potion rule in dueling games and on hardcore mode where people would break that rule to save their character from permanent death, there are people who specialise in killing people so fast that they can't use their potions.

The bottom line is that letting people effectively buy extra hitpoints is a shitty system for a pvp-based game. PvP literally becomes all about who has the most potions, not who knows how to play their class the best. Most other games have spotted this downfall of earlier games like Diablo and corrected it or removed healing potions altogether.

Insert signature that doesn't break the rules here

I am unsure if you've ever played RFO.. I reall y am.

See heres how it goes, in mmo's yes gear is generally a contributing factor in success of a duel.

This is the case in RFO as well, however...

The person with the guy who can shell out the most for EXPENDABLE items, is going to win. There is no if/ands/or/buts about it.

There is not strategy in that, and it's quite a legit argument.

If you have tier 4 potions in your bag, and am carrying atleast 3 bags full it's gonna just be a an extra load of hp, that you can buy.

and say what you want, but the general populas will agree with me, that system is not only garbage it's assisting in a massive farming time sink.

So in case the sculls a tad thick lemme break it down.

99 pots x 20, each healing 3k hp each thats effectively 5940000 hp.

And thats with tier 3, there are some pots that can heal for even more! MORE.

Even if you do somehow find a guy who can wail down 6k dmg per hit (Race leader maybe?) you are still gonna be there fighting for a very VERY long time. Even if you are mobbed.

Holy crap guys, someone call Sun Tzu, we got us some real art of war.

    Check.
