I keep playing with my wife (and we are both not really friendly against SoE but Brad is simply one of the best in the industry and have good hopes for this game)
Cancelled for now. I'm just using up my free month. I will wait a few more months for them to do some drastic polishing and bug killing before considering giving it another go. I really do want to get into this game but its not letting me in the state its in. I also hope it becomes more casual friendly beyond lvl 10-15, othewise I'll probably continue playing WoW for a awhile, although I'm drastically becoming bored with it again and will probably quit that too and wait for the true WoW killer if VG doesn't end up being it.
Keep playing... and hard waiting for fixes. In any case VG is a best game for now. But LOTRO is comming... and Warhamer with AoC is closer and closer...
Building a house. Leveling my carpenter to level 25 to start working on my first ship. Getting 25+ domestic and noble gear so i can do a few diplomatic quests I have gotten. Other than that keep leveling my bard .
I will play this game till The Chronicles of Spellborn hits open beta, and beyond that when the game continues to improve. It is truely a good game but no TCoS killer.
Cancelled for now, but will be keeping an eye on it.
For it was wasnt any one major thing, but a combination of several minor ones. Bugs (their fault), mediocre PC (my fault), etc etc. The small things added up and eventually the investment to fun ratio wasnt worth it.
So I cancelled. I'll play something else in the meantime. Perhaps in a few months the bugs will be fixed, I can upgrade my PC, etc etc. At that point I would definitely reconsider coming back.
The cockroach in the pudding however is WAR =p I'm a hopelessly irredeemable GW fanatic, so unless Mythic goes and does something terribly, horribly wrong, I'll be playing WAR at release exclusively.
I don''t really know when Humankind will die out but i''m guessing about 6 years before WOW. -BarCrow
My wife and I just couldn’t get into it. We really tried. Seems all we do now is just waste money to see how bad a game is so the thought of, "I wonder if this game is going to be good?" doesn't stay in the back of our minds.
Originally bought two copies, one for me one for my wife, but thankfully only activated one. Will cancel the end of the month but will keep a close eye on it and activate the second account (hell i already spent the money anyway) as soon as it starts turning around. Hopefully it will be as intended by then, but frankly, i am not very optimistic. I have a ffeling htis game will follow the same road as Horizons.....
Yes it's buggy and annoying and frustrating. It's also very satisfying in many ways that CoH and WoW weren't for me. I'll be playing for a long time.
I just don't see anything else coming out soon that's going to be worth playing. LOTR=Turbine=No way I play anything they come up with. AOC=PVP=Sorry but I'd rather fight something other than a punk who gets his happiness from being 1337.
looks like just over a quarter of players who use this site are going to stay with it . thats pretty bad considering this is proberbly not representative of the public at large . if its a sinking ship its the titanic of mmorpgs .

Vanguard will be alright. I think one of the developers could have been quoted before as saying something along the lines that it needs 200k subscribers to be profitable, 500k they'd be happy with. Anyone back me up on that?
Regardless, a lot of MMOs like UO and such have stayed afloat without any threatened cancellations with 100k-200k subscribers. 'course Vanguard is much newer and probably demands more funding, but you certainly don't need a million or several million subscribers to stay afloat.
Ultimately, I see a niche few people inheriting Vanguard, if for no reason other than Sigil right now is failing and seeming quite amateurish at appealing to the masses. They might aswell buckle down and make the game the best it can be for the likes of the people that do play it. I don't mean that in a bad way, but in the way that City of Heroes/Villains continues to thrive off it's niche audience, Eve Online too...etc. Poise it as it's own game, not a potential competitor to WoW or inheritor of EQ's spirit or any third-gen standard decider nonsense.

That's a pretty fair and reasonable assessment, do you happen to work for the US Gov?
And 300 will be out shortly. I believe Spiderman 3 is out this summer. Don't think the Batman sequel is due out til next year. 23 looks like it might be a good flick, but I think it will be like M Night Shalawhatsis' movies. Looks good in the trailer, sucks ass in the theater.
Read War and Peace. That alone should tide you over til the 6 month mark.
Cancelled, but I'll check up on Vanguard from time to time. For me, it's the performance issues that are the killer. The moment Vanguard runs as well as WOW, EQ2 or CoX do on my computer, then I'll definitely give the game another try.
Cancelled. Bugs are annoying, but not the main issue for me. I can't muster the time or interest to play VANGUARD beyond the first month. I don't want to have to spend 20-40 hours a week to keep up with the majority of core/hardcore players that this game is attracting. And certain things that have been discussed at length on the forums just feel wrong to me, like the animations, discordant art direction and Sigil's odd handling of patches and customer service. It seems like a cool game that I might have gotten into ten years ago when I was younger and more aggressive about gaming. But now i just want to kick back and have some fun in a game, without feeling pressure to perform in order to be a part of the community. LOTRO here I come!

If your main issue is competing with the "hardcore" folk, and can't put that much time into an MMORPG, I would consider not playing the genre completely. There will always be someone ahead of you(most likely) and if you can't deal with that I don't know what to tell you. And I'm not sure where your getting those numbers from anyway. Most of the players(about 90,000 of them) are between lvls 10-20 and certainly don't play 20-40 hours a week to get there. Its not as hard to level as some people say. I have maybe 6 hours played time and I'm lvl 10.

I already play EQ2 and have a station account, but I wont be playing Vanguard. Way too buggy and I feel like I am controlling a stick figure. Animation is poor.

I downloaded EQ2 2 nights ago to give it a try after logging off VG. I can't stand it at all. Maybe it was just the Fae starting area, but I thought the graphics looked terrible. The animations were pretty good, but the overall textures and art weren't inspiring at all. The interface looked outdated and boring also. Nothing exciting and new to draw in new players, IMHO.

We do not play any MMO at the moment.
We are tired of paying for “potential”.
