Vanguard's litany of bugs and singular focus on group adventuring
I wouldn't care much for the bugs myself. But Vanguard, somehow, manage to aggravate the "hardcore grouper" that I am in the process of creating a game that is supposedly about grouping, while in facts, it is about an evil raiding-ending, all over again.
My life is just as shallow as these Vanbois, and I do care about how it end damnit! Stop listening to FoH no-lifers! Other no-lifers like me have a rational request that it end in grouping, not in raiding damnit! Until this is fixed, Vanguard won't see 0,01$ from me.

Not a bad review. I figured gamespot would really rip it, they tend to be very harsh on buggy games.
I got the impression the reviewer really liked it but those technical issues really bonked it. Had they waited and polished this game would have done much, much better. Oh well, its not like this is the first time something like this happened, won't be the last unfortunately. For now just another middle of the road fantasy game to add to the list.
I agree. Gamespot does tend to be harsher than the other major game sites when it comes to issues of production quality. That said, I think they also have a soft spot for both niche games and RPG's. I figured they'd give Vanguard a score somewhere in the seven range. That's how they usually deal with games like this.
"While technical issues may hamper the gameplay in ______, it is ultimately still a rewarding experience for those who enjoy (insert niche game type here)."
All you have to do is search for the word "while" in their reviews of such games. I wrote the above before reading the review. Here's what they wrote:
"Yet while Vanguard is not outwardly friendly to genre newcomers, it's got enough rewarding gameplay to please experienced adventurers willing to overlook its technical hitches."
Honestly, that's why I like gamespot. You see IGN give 8's and 9's to horrible bargain bin shooters while simultaneously slamming niche games that many people will enjoy. Then again, all the sites have their place. Sometimes you have to go to all of them to get a good idea of all the negative and positive points of a game.
Woah! I thought they woulda given the game a 4 or 5 outta 10, didn't expect them to give it a great score!
However i've always thought Gamespot reviews are very high, in my eyes their 9/10 is where my 7/10 would be. I think they've gotten into the attitude of if it's not 9/10 it sucks and Graphics are everything. Gears of War for example doesn't deserve a 9 just for the graphics.

Funny thing is, there currently isn't forced grouping - soloing is faster than grouping. I'm sure this won't last forever, as they are still tweaking with XP rates.
Instanced dungeons? EQ players know EQ was the best MMO ever... we didnt have instanced dungeons then and i have never liked instanced dungeons since. It like a cut off from immersiveness... its not what I want in an MMO.. and it was something that bothered me so much in WOW when i seen it appear.
You didn't play EQ long, did you? EQ best expansion is LDoN. LDoN is about instancing. LDoN brough to EQ a prosperity...that end with GoD. EQ was alive and prospering and doing extremely well at LDoN, despite been doing poorly with PoP and with GoD...you have to give credits where it belong...instancing improve EQ and the players love it.

It's all good man. Raiding is acutally not the end game here.
Also, raiding is a feature VG have. It's not a bug and please don't do like SWG... whining will not change the design this time.

He means the real EQ, that is pre-Pop, before getting ruined by SOE. LDoN sucked big.
