WHAT's EVERYONE AFRAID OF???

I've been reading ALOT of  posts on ALOT of  websites about LOTR Online ... Ive been researching this bc I have recently  Preordered LOTR Online ... But my question is this ...

I read all these reviews and see all these comparisons to  WOW & EVERQUEST ... etc ...

Wheres the comparison to FINAL FANTASY 11???

Are people afraid to mention this game? Is this game unspeakable?

My worry is this: Ive been playing FF11  for 6 months now & that game is ABSOLUTELY amazing!!! ...

Am I going to be disappointed considering my love for FF11 bc i dont want to purchase a game that im not going to play.

I like FF11 bc its not something I will complete in a month or 2 ... this game could take years to get through ...  i mean dont get me wrong, i feel that some of the "waiting" period in FF11 is a lil too long at times but at the same time i dont want a game that can be beaten in 3 months ... that defeats the purpose of an MMORPG in my opinion.

Is the enviroment in LOTR in comparison or is this world super small like ive been hearing? Is LOTR a game I will complete quickly or will i have to invest some time into it?

I just needs some detailed facts from people who have experienced both ... and not just a this sucks and thats good answer ... give me some "stats" ... lol

So for those of you that have played BOTH FF11 & LOTR Online, which game do u like better of the two?  Some comparisons & pros/cons would be greatly appreciated ...  pls pls pls let me know!

THANKS!

PS ... SIDE NOTE: let me know what you all think of LOTR in comparison to other MMORPG's like WOW and Everquest ... is LOTR better than these games ???

Absolutely none, FF11 remains to be a unique MMO that no one has any intention of copying anything from it, F11 forces groups this often shunned and not repeated. After beta testing LOTR and if you love ff11, you will not like this game, it won't be your cup of tea. But you are welcomed to try it, along with anyone else, it isn't a bad game. It's just not what I was hoping for.

I feel you. FFXI is game that doesnt get the credit that it deserves. It is the only compelling pve mmo experience on the market today. It mimics EQ but more importantly, it destroys EQ and these NA developed games in every way possible.

It is the first mmorpg to deliver a true epic story line with a deep class system. It is the only mmo that I have played where I feel that, the devs put just as much emphasis on my toon as they do the world. Where as in EQ, my toon really didn’t matter… it was all about the amazing world of norath, in EQ I was just a prop really but in FFXI I was/am attached to my character.

I am 3+ year player of FFXI (http://nulifeguild.com/grunk) and up until lotr online beta, i felt that there would never be a great PVE mmorpg... and ive had a desire to leave FFXI due to the econ and the king drama ATM... All i ever wanted was a great PVE mmo that had next gen graphics and sound that I as a bleeding edge gamer expect.

Lotr... provides me the feeling of accomplishment that i get from FFXI, it gives me the amazing detail and story that i get from ffxi... but w/o the pain... to some extent its easy. It delivers the next gen graphics that I so crave for… but has the great art direction to back it up… unlike games like EQ2 and Vanguard, Lotr online pushes your rig to the limit but gives you the results you EXPECT.

Some people from FFXI will probably say that, “lotr online is to damn easy”… I would probably say to them that, FFXI wasn’t really hard… sure its deep and it doesn’t give the new player much of a tutorial… but the only thing that I felt that was very very hard is the CoP expansion. That content is brutal… go ask anyone about AoV … bout PM6-4… trust me, this is the epitome of a challenging mmorpg. Most mmos just throw grinds at you, and the sheep blindly miss categorize that as “challenge” or lol “hardcore”.

Probably, the Trait system is what I am excited about, it gives me a lot of extra character development to chew on, its almost like having some kind of Alternative Advancement system at launch, it is a neat new spin on this old idea… and frankly, all mmos need to start doing this. The idea that WoW has been out for over a year and that it doesn’t have an AA of some sort is mind boggling.

Lotr combat engine is also something to note. Sure it uses a very tried and true formula but its fun. Its fun because your never waiting… on cool downs. Your always doing something… you add the Junction system in and if they add more reaction based skills and this imo, is the best and most FUN combat for a pve mmorpg…

At the end of the day, middle earth is amazing. Theres lots of content here and it can only grow and expand just as far as EQ did. Tolkien’s body of work is VERY VERY LARGE.

I played FFXI for almost 2 years and for the most part LOVED every part of it.  My only major complaint was the lack of character development.  Ever lvl 50 redmage for example was the same. Same skills, same everything.  If there was a ability to tweak your toon I would probably still be playing it today.

My all time favorite memory of FFXI was completing my Samurai quest.  I don't know what I was about it but I just loved it.  Going to different locations to get the items I needed to have my first sword made was a bad ass.  Then taking them to the guy and and having to wait a couple of real time hours while made my blade.  I really felt like a Samurai after I completed the quest.  The quests to unlock some of the other jobs was great as well.

    -Currently looking forward to FFXIV

-Currently playing EvE and Global Agenda

The things that we do, that is what seperates us.... At lvl50 there really isnt much there... but say a lvl75 RDM with full Relic and an E body... well you would be unique indeed... How you play your toon, what subs you  use also make you very different... what merits and so on you choose....

I cant speak to much about mages but i can tell you this... on my server there maybe 2-3 drks that could say that they are "like me"

FFXII is a terrible, horrible game.

I don't think you've gotten very far into it. It's a degrading, dehumanizing experience... the economy revolves around mobs that spawn once every 4-96 hours (yes NINETY SIX REAL LIFE HOURS).  I don't even want to get into it. It's an OLD generation MMORPG, too.

PS. Getting to a level cap is NOT "beating the game." in any game.

Played - UO, FFXI, WAR, WoW, EVE

From your ignorant post, I don't think you got anywhere in the game. Further more if you just joined FFXI then yes you would have a problem with the economy due to how long the game has been out and what has been acomplished on each server.

I had quit FFXI 6 months ago for one reason and only one reason. The lack of content, yes I had two maxed jobs, WHM being my main, and the rest of the jobs in the 40s, 50s and 60s, I played since launch and loved every minute, but when you login every day and have to camp HNM with your HNMLS or sky runs, god runs, kirin, promy. Well you can only do it for so long before you just say, man this is god damn boring. The game is awesome and truely unique, the story makes you become a part of the adventure not just a puppet. Tons of quests, side quests, and huge amounts of areas to explore. I even stuck around to play puppetmaster, Blue mage, and Corsair. Will I ever return? I dount it, I don't want to repeat everything all over again. I think I'll just wait for SquareEnix's new MMORPG.

One more thing, camps made the game great and made it so once you had that HNM it ment something. It took commitment on your part and you may not have gotten the tresure your heart desired on that one camp, but you did, you out-camped everyone else and that is an acheviement in itself. I'm glad I went out with a bang, the final day I would login my HMNLS was camping KB (King Behemoth) and we killed it. And so my story ended as I disconnected and erased my character. I'll never forget the adventure I had and the people I had them with.

I agree with what everyone is saying ...

FFXI is awesome indeed ... everything takes time to complete and gives u a sense of accomplishment ... everything is very indepth and to say the least ... addicting!

But 1 thing i will say is things take TOO long sometimes in FFXI ... and i will say to an extent that things r getting a bit expensive to a point ... so yes over time bc everything takes SOOO long its does get boring sometimes.

So being that i grew up on Tolkien ... i figured LOTR would b my chance to experiance something new and captivating ... hoping it holds my attention as long as FF has but dosnt make everything SUPER time consuming ... but dont get me wrong, i dont want a game that is "easy" either ... my only concern was character depth and the amount of "tweaking" and adjusting i can do with my character as in FF with 20,000 job combinations ...

Based upon what ive read tho, it sounds like LOTR will b just as good as FFXI but in a diff way ... i guess i will find out when i do stress test & beta testing ... Look for me ... ill b there ... !!!

    MMMM FFXI:

Cookie cutter Class/Level Grinders for the win I guess.

FFXI is just EQ1 re-hashed.  Thanks... played EQ1 for 6 years... really looking for a game that IMPROVES on that template, not just re-hashes it with a better graphics engine.

FFXI's graphics also don't appeal to me.  Then again the Final Fantasy single player game graphics didn't either.  I hate anime.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

    Still in: A couple Betas

How the hell can you even say this? Did you even play it? The combat engines are completely different, It's a real time turn based system. EQ1 is real time and doesn't force groups. Do your research next time fool.
