Just got in Beta and Have a question

Like the title says i just got in beta, and am downloading now (which IMO is really gay, come on a 9 part download)

I was wondering how big the community is, I know its still in beta but I dont want to play if it is completly barren.

Considering everyone controls 3 people, it doesn't take a lot of players to make it look crowded.  But because of that it almost seems like theres too many people in beta IMO.
