A MMORPG that MMORPG.com doesn't have listed!!!

I just heard about this one myself over at Fileplanet and see it is almost finished with their beta, however there is a free download and I also suspect it is free for now. Looks real nice. However I just wanted to tell you all and especially the admins here at mmorpg.com since I didn't see it listed.

The game is called Dark Horizons: Lore and seems to me like a Mech game. So Sci-Fi that is. and their web site is:

http://www.darkhorizons-lore.com

If you want to jump in and start downloading the demo or want to read some quick brief info on it check it out here at Fileplanet.

Hope I directed some that will like this. I think I will myself. Always got to give a good looking MMO a try I say :)

Have a good one...

This sounds more like a FPS based on tribes but each person pilots a mech which I wouldn't really consider anything close to a MMORPG.

I didn't even look at the link so I don't know if it's an MMORPG or not, but what I can tell you is at the bottom of the gamelist they say their list isn't perfect, so that means things will be left out, so go give them an email to let them know they missed a game, I've emailed them a few times to add games in and they have taken that into consideration. They also reply to you quickly ::::28::

This isn't a MMORPG, that's probly why. Just a guess though. LoL

They built the game on the same engine that powered Tribes2. Garagegames licenses the engine for $99 per programmer as long as you or your company has less than $250,00 in sales or else you pay $495 per programmer, which ain't that bad if you are making a quarter of a million dollars. And you can publish your game anywhere you like (of course you need to read their license agreement if you are interested). GG has a new shader engine that's going to be around $300. OK, enough promoting for a company I don't work for even though I have purchased a license from them.

With Dark Horizons Lore, it's kind of like Tribes2 and other first person shooters but it does have a persistent side to it like Planetside even though it's not just like Planetside. Anyone can host a server with DHL unlike PS. There's only two teams with DHL instead of three with PS. Maybe I should just quote them on why they call it a persistent battle:

    MaxGaming
Though not a traditional MMO, the game play in DHL does create a persistent battle that is being waged, won and lost by the Federated States and Eastern Confederation. Each mission that is set to stat reporting will report Faction wins and loses into the persistent engine, along with player stats. The faction reporting allows for objectives and sectors to be won and lost by each faction.
Doesn't really explain much and sounds more like just stat reporting, but basically that's all Planetside is. Believe me, I was questioning Adrian (the guy behind the design of the game) a couple of years ago all about this and I probably don't understand it any more now than I did then. Maybe objectives are set based on previous battles and stats and the objectives have nothing to do with people hosting the servers. I guess someone should download it and play it and explain it better.

We frequently add more games to our list.

As for potential games to add to the game list, the game has to be classified as a MMORPG or similar variant. However, there are some games that do possess/support many players, however they in themselves are not MMORPGs. For example, you won't find us with information on Starcraft or Tribes 2 - those are not MMORPGs. In anycase, if you believe there is a real MMORPG that is not on our Game List please drop a line at admin@mmorpg.com and we will consider it.

    Thanks!
