A few days ago there was an article publicated in several newspapers here in Sweden about a teacher in the US who exposed her class of 7th graders to pornography, not by her fault, a pop-up advertising pornography suddenly appeared when she had her computer linked to a screen/projector infront of her class and she now risks 40 years of prison time due to that.
True or false?
I've read about alot of outrageous things regarding the land of the free which have over-populated prisons that have turned out to be true so my instincts tells me that this just might be true... Some crazy laws and legislations, I bet she could sue the internet for doing this to her if she gets convicted.

Julie Amero is her name.
The Jury found her guilty even though spyware were detected on the computer, four out of ten 7th graders were exposed to pop-ups with pornography thus risking their "health and morals".
The sentence will be given in March, she's risking up to 40 years in jail. ^^
Norwich, USA.
I bet those 7th graders never ever had viewed pornography before in their life, the internet is accesible from so many places and most adult filters are easily avoided.

Nonetheless, my ex-gf worked at a school as a teacher, and kids 4-6years old were working MSN like it was nothing... Let alone surfing websites, incl. sexual content... If not at school, at home...
I'm sorry to say but...only in america?
Most of the kids probably have seen pr0n before.
Land of the free my fat ass.
Based on the inital post, my first reaction was an arguement can be made that the teacher should have realized the pop-up could occur when she created her syllubus for the program.
However, I read the article here:
Teacher Faces Prison for Pop-Up Infested PC
And from what it sounds, she wasn't even the one visiting the sites, the kids were. Instead of running malware/spyware programs, they would probably be better off subscribing to a proxy ban list and proxying their internet request blocking sites based on that. Either way, I see it as the school which has failed the children and not the teacher.
