Reaction from my 6 year old niece

It is nice how honest children are with their opinions.  I showed her  a few mmorpgs I am playing without saying the titles(not showing her violence content!).   Her first reaction to LOTRO was: "Ah this is wow, what dad always plays" She sat at the pc and was able to control the character with ease, as she played wow with her father. Her second reaction was" Too easy, Is this only for babies?" Her third:"This looks dumb".  Others were not criticised that harsh (wont say which ones).

Apparently your niece is brilliant, female Einstein in the making. I'm happy for you and her parents. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Hum.. so you dont need a university education to move a toon around the screen easily... thats good, why should moving a toon be hard?!?!!?!

This gets my vote for most usless thread EVER!

Tell ya her to go accept a quest that is marginly difficult and carry it out, see if she thinks its for babies then.  she will die from the first mob she comes across. (and no helping from you).  then tell her to gather the mats for a crafting recipe and craft the item.  Then tell her to join a group run the dungeon with them.... i coudl go on.  All your she can do is move a toon, make her do somthing meaning ful and its

First no offense to you or your niece (she is probably a smart sweet little girl.) With that said if you have kids or work with them you know they are not always honest. Children lie all the time. Try working as a teacher, you will know what I mean. I love kids but they are far from honest. Also making the assumptions a 6 year old can appreciate the game mechanics of LOTRO is silly. Most 6 year olds could play and maneuver a character in most mmos. Kids are exposed to the pc as young as 2 and 3 years old now and most games play a lot like WoW. I understand the point you are trying to make about LOTRO but the way you are presenting it just makes my shake my head and smile. If I looked to kids opinions on what I do for my entertainment I would be watching Dora the Explorer and listening to the Wiggles in my car. What you are really saying is you feel these things about LOTRO. So if you want to make an impact on the readers of this thread tell me why you feel these things about LOTRO.

I guess it is a good thing that 6 year old females is not the primary demographic the game is targeting then.

Let her grow up a bit more and build her own set of opinions, then have her post them on this site.

    See you in 2017

I let my dog try out the lotr beta. He moved it around alittle, funny how animals are with the truth. He then decided to pee on my keyboard.

damn I think you might wanna put you dog up for hire as an beta tester for MMOs.

PS: My little niece also knows how to use an keyboard and mouse and she is youger aint she special!!! Especialy the part of "(not showing her violence content!)" is extreamly funny. That would be like showing her CS and let her walk in that game and yes controls of CS and wow are not really tht much differand so I'm sure she can do that to.

My cat like to watch me play, does that count for anything? He can move the mouse with his paw but has not gotten the hang of clicking buttons yet, and he is hopeless with WASD movement.

Kids tend to dislike anything they don't understand....don't feel bad, as he matures he will able to comprehend more complex things.

I bet up until then you thought playing MMORPGs made you intelligent. From your post here, I bet she would beat you in an IQ test as well .

  • Indeed one of the most useless threads in the history of internet. A wannabe troll in the making, I presume.
However all the replies gave me a good laugh so I thank you for that. Go play in the sandbox with your nice. Maybe you can pretend it's Vanguard seeing how bad the graphics of the sand is compared to wow.

Go back to the Vanguard forums, Brad!

Jackdog with a name like that I am suprised you have a cat. One of my cats also likes to watch me play mmos. It is pretty funny he actually watches the screen and you can see him move his head as he follows the toons on the screen. He seems to like the combat effects in EQ2 the best. When I play EQ2 he has to climb up into my lap and has to watch. He like LOTRO but he feels they fall short a bit on the books lore. However he did preorder it. I think he wants that founder title. Crazy cat!

My 7 year old brother (big age gap) has also tried LOTRO, he is very good with games anyways, of course he could only move the character round etc, but he said the games "dead good" which is what he says about anything with swords or guns, or any form of fighting in for that matter. So it proves nothing really.

I had my 16 week old daughter sitting on my lap for a few minutes yesterday while playing the LOTRO beta (I avoided the violence though, so don't worry). Her only comment was "inga agoo", which in baby speak means "I find the graphics pleasing to the eye, and am impressed with the sheer number of quests, but would prefer more character customization". She is a clever girl!

Eh, some people are fans of LOTRO just like you're a fan of Dark and Light.

Well anyway, if your niece thinks its too easy, she should try running the Great Barrow or Retake Weathertop. That or go to the Old Forest, Rath Teirag, or one of the other outdoor dungeons.
