Great to know it is definitely broken, we've tried a new & weirder tactic each server up (it doesn't seem to reset so server has to go down between attempts) will leave it alone till we hear that it's fixed.
Ignoring the dummy-spitting above.... so the changes to the tool-tip on Dex, leads one to believe dex affects only the addition to damage on a criticial, not increasing the actual frequency of criticals themselves, as the previous tooltip wording sugested. As the JIN generating & other aspects of finishers is often more useful than the dps for a disciple I wondered if that's confirmed anywhere or if you can?

I'm presuming you wouldn't anyway Cylus but don't listen to non-constructive assholes like this guy.
Lets go through the checklist:
1 - Read ANY review from a writer worth his salt and he will never make such a childish, flippant comment as "Don't waste your money on Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Even if you can play the game without a lot of lag your brain is going to lag once you discover how boring the game is.". Infact NONE of them have at all. They complain about performance issues which are not denied and are being worked on, but all agree that underneath the current technical frustration there is a good MMO waiting to come out. This poster seems to have a personal childish agenda preventing him from being impartial and giving sound advice. Perhaps his weeks pocket money allowance was spent on a game he cannot play on the computer his parents bought him??
2 - A man proud enough to boast he was the most banned MMORPG poster of 2006 is basically saying "I'm the most non-constructive flame whore this forum has ever seen, so bear that in mind when you take my advice"
3 - The man has actually put time and effort into creating a Sigil based hate image for an Avatar. Would you take advice from a person who takes time aside in his life to actually create something like this? I mean really, who has nothing better to do and feels they need to take out frustration on a GAME. Pathetic!!!
Cylus, thanks for coming on the thread and giving the people who have a useful interest and participation on this forum some good info from the top. Don't let assholes like this guy put you off coming here and keeping us informed. Just your few posts here have given me some hope re: animations on water, NPC's weapons etc.. All very good to hear.
In response to the original posters question. Read ACTUAL game reviewers reviews on Gamespy or other site to get an impartial, agenda free view point. Coming to a place where any halfwit with a keyboard can project their personal agendas onto you is fruitless.
Personally I love the game. Always something to do. get bored of adventuring, diplomacy keeps me WELL occupied and infact is all I've done all week. Bored of that, try crafting. Earn money to buy a house in the world. Then go back to adventuring a couple foe weeks later. That's the kind of multi faceted game I feel we have here.

From some quick testing on our internal server, it seems to me that it's just the amount of damage that you do now, not the frequency, but I'll doublecheck with a coder tomorrow/today? and get back to ya

Hehe, no worries. Although, I hope the irony of him harping on us for not having offical forums is apparent to everyone

Hehe, no worries. Although, I hope the irony of him harping on us for not having offical forums is apparent to everyone That is weak in my opinion, Codemasters went thru worse with Archlord's yet maintained open forum policy on the official forums.. Creating a brand new official forum would work wonders , cause right now all your players are spread out in your game as well as on the net.

I honestly feel like I was ripped off, I will know better next time but...
This Sigil rep does not seem to be able to answer much nor does he seem to know much about the game he says he plays, kind of disturbing imo, having no official forums just hurt you guys more which is the last thing you needed, I have unsubscribed and I feel like shit because I gave you my hard earned money, which could have been spent elsewhere, I also suggest you update your minimum system requirements, I ran the game fine high performance, my friend however could not run the game at all but he still met the minimum requirements, go ahead and tell me he should have known better, fact is that box is misleading. Just like the 3 month offer on the collectors edition, I didn't fall for it but I know alot of people did....
Anyways I am just ranting but I still feel like these guys deserve not one cent of anyones money.
Currently Playing: Everything but MMORPGs Cancelled: L2, FFXI, VSoH, LotRO, WAR, WoW Looking Forward To: SW:TOR
I have been thinking lately to buy and try VG out. But I have some questions before I'm ready to spend about $50 on somehting I don't know much about.
Don't worry there are just a few questions.
1. Are all the VG servers situated in the USA? I live in in Europe, Sweden to be exactly. As I've heard alot of people say theres quite alot of lag, anyone who lives in Europe can tell me how bad the lag is going to be with a 2mbit connection?
2. I haven't played any other mmo with the kind of graphics VG is supposed to have. I have only played L2 and WoW with mentionable graphics. I know that saying I can play WoW at highest graphic settings with an average of 50 fps doesn't say much since WoW grahpics isn't really good. But lets say I'm able to play Oblivion at highest settings, can I expect about the same quality/performance? And yes I understand the difference in graphic engines and whatnot, but still.
Please understand this last question right.. I'm not asking wether I can play Oblivion as well as VG at highest settings, but if the quality of the graphics and overall performance of the game may be the somewhat of the same.
I hope you understand my questions . Even more so that you have answers.
1) I saw it was already answered as being amsterdam
2) I have seen people say over and over "I can play Obvlivioin at highest settings and I can't play Vanguard at all!". I, on the other hand, can't play Oblivion at the highest settings without lag, however I can play Vanguard on highest settings because of the .ini tweaks.
Please post your system specs, but you will need 2 gigs of ram and a video card that was made within the last 2 years. I have a radeon x800 pro 256 mb and 2 gigs of ram and get around 20 fps on highest quality with the client file tweaked so I can play on highest. PM me if you have need of any other answers.

Hehe, thanks for sticking to the subject. I have an XFX 7800 GTX (256mb), 2GB of ram (have additional 512 which I borrowed to a friend which I can get in 30 minutes). My concern is my P4 3.2GHz cpu.
Would appreciate any tips on tweaking you could give me!
Anyway I just got home from being away buying the game. Some ney-sayers won't get me down. I'll do my own assesment of the game... Which will be unnessecery since I'm bound to like it. I'm to much of a cheap-ass not to

I am currently running Vanguard on the same processor with only 1GB of DDR-2 800mhz and a 7900GS (256mb), I do have a second GB of memory on its way.
I am running on Balanced for smoother gameplay, but can run on the next highest level but with a minor decrease in framerate, I 'll take the smoother gameplay
Also, you really don't need to do any tweaks to the vgclient.ini file, you can simply use the in game graphics settings to a get an acceptable performance with your system.
By just adjusting the in game settings I can get up to 35- 45fps in the open and even higher in dungeons. The worse performance is still in crowded areas with lots of players but never drops below 15 - 20 fps (albeit with the occasional hiccup where I get some hitching, the second GB of memory will aleviate most of these.)
I would be more than glad to post my graphics settings after I get home this evening.
Do not waste your money. Do not support those deceitful people. VG is a horribly unfinished product and you should be paid to play it and help them fix this disaster.

no i wouldn't say this is the US's top game
Vanguard is a great game, even with its bugs. In fact I think I'll login now.
No offence meant.
