I never knew why or can't remember.
So... not a rollback at all, but a...
Oh man... how did you manage to type that without laughing off your chair?
You're suggesting...

I think they'd be too embarrassed.
Though one could argue, at this point to really embrace SWG for what it is, they ought to schedule annual combat revamps from here on out.

Ya, lol, a revamp with every Expansion. It's tradition at this point. And the link you provided in the other thread answered my queston about Gordan w. Thanks.
See you in the dream.. The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.

Well, you know they are saying "there will never ever be roll back or classic (PreNGE) servers"
And since we know NGE cannot go like this (whatever they are talking, game is getting worse and worse). I wouldn't be suprised if they make another revamp to be honest.

I'd be amazed if anyone were willing to suffer the chagrin.
Something has to be done, that's all I can see.
I don't believe many suits ever "got" HAM, nor that any of the original devs who did get it are left to explain it...

I'd shut-down the forums.
So rather than ignoring the BS/crying/unintelligable posts, and finding the good ideas, and suggestions, you'd shut down the forums and further alienate the player base? Serious question, I'm not trying to be an ass here - I've changed my opinion of you entirely since reading your posts here.
Why not just shoot the damned thing, and put it out of it's misery?

If SWG is to remain open to the end of this year, it's almost certainly going to do so funded more by SOE/LEC than by paying subscribers.
I'm surprised it wasn't shut down after the holidays to be honest. It makes no sense financially to keep throwing money at it, even the small amount they are, for their half assed dev team. Even a shitty MMO Dev commands a very high salary right now because of how in demand they are due to the excessive number of MMOs in development.
Eventually, and I'll say "soonish" (to use Blixtev's terminology) the MMO industry is going to suffer a dot com style meltdown. Just as the "paper" MCSE's (who had certification but no talent) were forced out of the industry as it abandoned the insanity of the 90's, "paper" MMO Devs will be pushed out. Many such devs have been associated with SWG since the CU.
This MMO "dot com" meltdown will be occurring in the next year or so. How many WoW clones are possibly going to attract enough players to make it, when people who want WoW are happy playing... WoW. No one out there (except Raph) is even trying to be any different. The tragic thing is SWG had it stuck to it's original design concept could have BEEN the killer MMO of this time.
The upshot of which is we won't have Freeman and the rest to kick around TOO much longer
At any rate, the MMO industry is overdue for it's correction, the WoW clones will all fail, but there will be great opportunity for those who DO try something original and unique. Like the dot coms in the 90's, the industry is right now is operating on an irrational business model with VC's throwing millions and millions of dollars into startup development houses they will NEVER get back. Soon they will realize it (after release after release fails), the funding will stop, and those who have no business being in the industry will no longer be.
Who were the big winners in 2006?
Answer: Not one single new game (all of which cloned WoW to one degree or another), nor SWG (which continued to remake itself in WoW's image)
The winners were WoW and the two games most UNLIKE WoW:
I don't believe many suits ever "got" HAM, nor that any of the original devs who did get it are left to explain it...
Even CU's revised edition of HAM (Health for life, Action for specials, Mind for healing) might have worked out, if done better. The biggest complaint was that it took the strategy out of combat. All 3 bars should have remained subject to attack and wounding. A zeroed Action bar would not incap you, but reduce you to only the basic attack. An empty Mind bar means no healing. Adding some teeth might have enhanced it some more: 20-30 second debuffs triggered by a bar hitting bottom, Accuracy for Mind and movement for Action.

Oh, I'm just being a little facetious there.
I don't want to cross the line and start putting words into Jeff's mouth. If he says he's being facetious, then so be it. But in the past, he has blogged that official game forums are bad. Bad enough to not do them.
That aside, I'm hoping he's agreeing that in this case that wouldn't be the best thing to do.

I wrote later:
My personal opinion about the usefulness of officialforums with moderators to police speech as compared to an official blog, plus fan-blogs, plus fan-forums and an active, network-building community relations team doesn’t mean I am uncommitted to vibrant forum communities. I’m criticizing software and strategy. “Forums are Bad” is a snarky title.
I’m not against vibrant forum communities, I’m for vibrant community networks.
And then also later:
Really though, this is a surrender of control to the players. Can’t do that without some risk of abuse. Question is whether it’s worth tolerating whatever amount of risk that is. And just what is that amount of risk anyway? Plus whether it’s worth the hassle when it eventually happens, ’cause it will.
I get why game developers wouldn’t want to surrender control, for a number of reasons. I have difficulty understanding why players demand biased moderation and crumbs instead of cake. Insisting upon class-forums instead of class-websites, when devs hardly venture into all the assorted nooks and crannies that a class-forum tucked deeply away represents anyway. gah.
If I were the players I’d force the devs to come to me. But I’m just one guy.
But yes, in this case I think surrendering control of the conversation to the fans would not be good.

Suits need to get outa the design process and leave the originality alone.I think the game market is headed for another big change towards more games like the old SWG..Just cause it never hit WOW numbers didnt make the game bad..It had all the things i looked for in a game but had way to many changes and go away from the original game. The Market is saturated with WoW clones and well i just dont find them fun nore worth my time..I think the Niche market is growing you just have to have a game that gives gamers more options and polish than the one before it..Skill based lots of profession choices and lots to do..Just no forced anything and leave the player up to what they want to be/do......just my 2 creds..

While it is still making them profit there will be no shut down. The only way they will sun set it is it stays in the rears .
But by the time they sun set it swg 2 will be on the way (maybe)
