Intraclass specialization?

So, I haven't heard much on the skill system in HJ.

Are they going to base it on the GS system in which all chars choose from a pool of skills.   Or are they going to force each class into a specific set of skills that they have no control over whatsoever?

For example,  Vanguard gives you no choice.  As you gain levels,  you just get skills, a horrible system in which every class ends up being identical to anyone else playing the same class.

Will a max level warrior be a spitting image of any other max level warrior as far as the skill system goes?  Or will they give you freedom to specialize?  When i say specialize,  I don't mean choosing your weapon.  One warrior with an axe,  and one warrior with a sword isn't specialization.  It's the same character with a different weapon.

I know they are going to have a dual class system,  but that isn't good enough.  Sure,  you can be a warrior/priest.   But what separates you from another warrior/priest?  If the dual class system is the ONLY way to specialize,  id be very disappointed.

GS did a great job,  it allowed for a great deal of specialization.  Lock picking rogues actually spent points in lock picking to make themselves masters of it.  Will rogues in this game just get the skill from a trainer to pick locks?  or will they actually have to specialize towards it in order to be proficient?

I absolutely HATE the class trainer system,  where you are just given skills for reaching certain levels.   It totally ruins class diversity.

I don't think much has been said about the specific class training system. However, we do know we will find "wyr's" though out the world. And use these to customize weapons/items abilities and skills.

So in a way you can "enchant" your skill. Making them act quite different from its original effect. And different combinations of Wyr's makes the skill even more unique. (compare it to socketed items, but with your skills)

Something like that. Not much info about this has been released, sadly.

    Hope this helps...

No, each character won't be a spitting image of every other of the same level and class. This is not SOE or a poor clone their of <_<

individualization is a huge part of this game. Even if you roll the same character twice, his quest progression will be different thanks to the journey system.

Also, if you go back and read the articles about Wyr, you'll begin to understand how things will be different.

but yes, you are more or less constrained by your class. It's nothing like gemstone.
