Degree of class customization?

How much can you 'spec' a class in LOTR?  The last two games I have played, WoW and CoH, both allowed a significant amount of specialization.  So that playing the same class could be a significantly different experience depending on how you focused your abilities.  To what degree does LOTR allow you to customize characters?

Also, what kind of overlap of roles is there?  I played a Captain in the stress test this weekend. It was billed as the 'healer class'.  Are there other classes that can heal?  Presumably the minstrel and the loremaster I would expect.  But I dont know.

What website could you reccomend to look at the flexibility of class customization?

If there is limited customization, please do not flame me for asking after a feature the game doesnt have.

Thanks.

LotRO uses traits to give you additional skills and such.  As much as I like LotRO right now, there are some complaints that the traits fail in creating unique characters in classes (ie, everyone is making cookie-cutter versions of their class).  The game still has 2 months till launch so there may be some tweaks regarding traits.

Minstrels are the main healers in the game followed by the Captain and Loremaster as secondary healers.  No links unless you're in beta really.

i'm not really into skill systems, I look at a game and see what it has, if it feels good then i play it. Alot of people want this that and what ever else but never just play a game for what it offers. Yes maybe some things could be tweaked to enhance certain things in the class and skill system , maybe upgrading traits you already have to give you ++#  , maybe that is already their and I didn't notice . Even if they had a points system, someone would make the uber build and everyone would just copy and past  , like in shadowbane .

Remeber the  nintendo , you popped in a game like mario and you had mario , that one 8 bit pixel guy hopping all round, you didnt have any skill options or custom look , you had mario, but low and behold , we sat and played that anyway cause it was a solid game . I think of LotRO as the 21st century mario, where it may have some limitations, but it is a great game and you can just play it and enjoy it.
