Theres an evil monkey in my closet hes gone BANANA'S!! help me!
Starcraft is great but it isn't an MMORPG. Yet, anyway. FOR THE OVERMIND!
Anyway, you might go look up Rubies of Eventide or possibly Anarchy Online (the engine has some issues anyway you won't be all that better off with a midrange rig if you had it). Like I can play AO on my 2.8GHz P4/1GIG DDR/6600 with FSAA and filtering turned up without impacting performance because it doesn't use the card very well anyway.
The thing about UO is that you don't really notice the graphics as much since its 2D. Where as Asherons Call in 3D is much more in your face. Although I haven't played AC a whole lot UO remains one of my favorite MMOs of all time.

yeah that sounds something like my computer, runescape is playable but it still lags a little. oh and i have 15-20gb hard drive
well I've tried out Endless Online, it sucked badly. I tried Conquer Online which seemed ok at first but when i got into a place with people it lagged too badly to play. I tried Scions of Fate before both of those which didn't really work at all... I think i'm gonna try anarchy online next.
I've stopped playing 3 years ago because I was playing too much. Probably my opinion is kinda biased: I still loveit though I've been playing lots of other games (9Dragons, DDO, Archlord...).
Some of the smaller Korean imports are pretty good and some, like NexusTK and Dark Ages, have been around for a very long time. The clients are very small and avatars are anime-type. Lots of player involvement, especially in Nexus with clans and player-run subpaths; not so much in Dark Ages any more, or so I hear. Both cost $10 a month and the good part is, you don't have to subscribe! You can buy subscription coupons on a monthly basis. The bad part is there is no discount for recurrent billing, which is also a choice. Both have free trials, so you might want to give them a try.
Anarchy Online, while free, is set in a post-apocolyptic world, which didn't really attract me at all. It also has a pretty steep learning curve in some areas.
The Realm Online has been and is still undergoing massive changes and is the subject of deep controversy among the player base, which isn't very big and which will soon be split when the new version goes live. It's a subscription game, but costs less than most - about $7.99 a month now, I think.
Originally posted by Aelfinn Best game with not so good graphics?Anarchy Online, no real contest there.Note: AO is extremely indepth, a lot of thinking and patience are involved in the development of your character, especcially after you get out of the noob levels (after levels 50-100 depending on who you talk to)
Agreed. Although I don't even think the graphics are as bad as people make out. For a 6 year old game, I think that Funcom performed a damn good job - just don't mention the launch.
I only played for 2 weeks (nearly full days) last summer, and uninstalled purely because a lot of the old world content is devoid of players, and none of the expansions (especially ShadowLands) inspired me to pay. If Funcom started a brand new server, I'd probably play.
AO felt innovative in certain areas, even if some innovations didn't quite work (missions). Character development and implants are still innovative, and after playing EQ1, Eve and EQ2 (not a lot of MMORPGs, I grant you), AO has the best music bar none. I swear that a company is using the AO music to advertise laser eye surgery on UK television.
Complex, deep an interesting setting, and lots and lots of customization. Also very few developers can pull off humour in games (Secret of Monkey Island, excepted) but Funcom not only included humourous elements but made those elements fit into the game i.e. the leets, and the dancing ogre in the club just on the outskirts of Rubi Ka.
After EQ2, I am completely and utterly spent with generic heroic fantasy (in fact, the whole fantasy genre), level based, itemization games. I can only hope that Funcom will succeed with AoC [Age of Conan] and announce that they will be working on an AO2. Or Bioware do enter the market and make a product with a decidely sci-fi bent with significant nods towards AO, Necron, Syndicate [Pc game], Cyberpunk, William Gibson [Count Zero is better than Neuromancer] and Neal Stephenson [Snow Crash].

Here's a novel idea. How about upgrading?
A computer capable of playing most of the MMO's out there doesn't cost an arm and a leg anymore.

If you have never played Asheron's Call you are in for a real treat. Great game, great community and the game is not very resource intensive.
Anarchy Online is free, actually a pretty interesting game and I believe not too graphics intensive...
UO is pay2play with cheesy graphics but totally immersive...
Without a doubt, try ASHERONS CALL. Very good game and low requirements to play. Hell a 6 year old computer could play this game no problem.
You can give it a FREE TRY by clicking the link below. Check it out for sure!

Enjoy it. If you've never played Asheron's Call, then you are in for a real treat here.
