Why is he telling you? Because likely he was barely half-serious and was merely trying to get a rise out of the staunch (and somewhat paranoid) Vanguard defenders..

    He succeeded.

This is why I keep coming up to this forum. Freakin' hilarious. I have  more fun in an hour watching the trolls bait the Vanguard fans than I had playing the game for the two days it was on my hard disk.

see! it is true, Vanguard has something for everybody! Well, I gotta get my $50 bucks worth of entertainment out of the game, even if it's up here :)

As I approach lvl 20, I am begnning to see how many things the devs left out of release.  I am still having a pretty good time, but this MMO is half-baked, to say the least, here it goes:
    Player housing In the game
    Rings In the game
    Necklaces In the game
    Cloaks In the game
Helm graphics Removed do to Clipping issues with head features, will be returned.
Guild housing Never promised for Launch. Coming with Player Cities.
Guild activites and interfacing In the game
    Flying mounts In the game
Many crafting recipes and sub-components are also missing Like? I've yet to see one. I may believe a few are missing, but out of 40k that's nothing.
Entire Berserker Class NEVER scheduled OR promised for Launch
Entire Inquisitor Class Delayed OVER a year ago, since it's tied to the God system
    Teleportation In the game
Tracking for Rangers (this is absurd) Delayed OVER a year ago, and publicly discussed. It WAS tied to the wind system, that was removed from launch due to chunk conflicts I believe. Tracking will be coming.
    Entire villages and towns Like?
And entire quest lines (this doesn't include the dozen or so broken quests I have already come in contact with). What are you talking about? How would you even KNOW if an entire quest line was missing?
This isn't a whine post, but for those of you thinking about joining up, take a good look before you buy it...  You may still have fun, but the lag, missing features and overall horrible performance of this game made me hit "cancel" until I see some more patches... Stop spreading false information, lies & half-truths... please, this is getting old... If you don't like the game, move on, don't lie about it. There are a lot of real issues, there is no need to make any up.

What he said.  Stop spreading false info...

You forgot fellowship.  Probably THE most awaited features that is not in-game.... Still, OP could not point it out.

That's the problem with creating an equipment slot with that being the only type of item which can go there.  The solution is not to make cloaks rare, but to make different back-slot items, so players have to choose between different types of items.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

    Here's the deal....

    Facts first:
They released "early" and most of us know the story, but there is more.
bugs, content and quest problems, not to mention performance or demanding system specs required to say the least.

Next week, or the first week in march, free sub's run out.

It's already been reported on affiliate fansite forums some concerns over population, and in particular pops in starting areas. Quick little disclaimer (i'm not in game, was in beta, and have followed closely the progress from the "outside") So I'm not first hand info at least on server pops.

    This concerns populations though.

Brad believes the game will sell itself at least to start, word of mouth/viral marketing.

So taking all this into account.

    /speculation on

Brad needs over 250k subscribers to realise a profit, this means a fairly large player base. A large chunk of the play for 30 day free crowd may leave with their friends and word of mouth, also the negative reviews, as well as the positive but not glowing ones. All this may do serious damage to further sales of this game.

Brad not making ends meet may work out a deal with SOE, giving up development and creative control or a portion of it, neccesary to continue and complete the game.

What was to be a Sigil game either becomes a partnership or completely SOE.

Very possible IMHO, and also looking to become more likely. Although the next two weeks should make this speculation much more evident either way.

It's sad because I liked Sigil and what they stand for in games, I just feel they pushed to hard and fast depending on MS, then had to run to SOE and changed their vision (one year ago) mid stream. And it's all for naught, "or could be" as it's still a guessing game.

    Time will tell...

No more Trivial MMO's, let's get serious "again". Make a world, not a game
    What I listen to :)

If Sigil ever went under the SOE umbrella, I'd hope it happens for a positive reason and possible future MMO project requiring an even larger budget than Vanguard.

Personally, I'm a fan of good developers being bought up by big publishers. Such unions have given me my HALOs and such. This isn't to say instances like Origin/EA weren't awful, but I'm not going to go on and believe that Mythic/EA is going to be a similar tragedy. I believe the industry is getting smarter in a post-WoW era. Obviously if big IPs like Star Wars and the Matrix can tank amid billion dollar box offices; a smarter business strategy would be to not screw the developers.

Anyway, if Sigil were ever to (it will) become a SOE owned company, I'd see it happening for a future MMO project to combat the suspected 50 million dollar plus types you hear in rumors akin to the Fallout MMO.

But to be bought out over Vanguard? I doubt it. I don't believe the subscription growth is going to have any impressive momentum, but it'll have momentum nevertheless. Even if it grows one-subscriber per month, that's growth, and even that vast underestimate is a far cry from the doomsday scenario of actually losing subscribers per month so soon in it's lifespan.

Even though Brad said over half a year ago that Vanguard needed 200k subscribers or so to maintain a healthy company and healthy output of expansions and such, I doubt that number reflects any minimalistic mode the company would have to go into if Vanguard suffered at half or less that projected number.

Who knows...I'm not a staunch Sigil supporter; far from it, but I believe any company buyout will be for positive reasons. Not to try and reinvent Vanguard. Even SOE should've learned by now that you cannot run and catch up to a boulder you've already pushed down hill and add more mass to it. It's already rolling.

edited my post on the numbers I was quoting...
250k instead of 200 mill (kind of a minor mistake image)

Travel time cannot be made fun unless the game also gives you unlimited access to porn.

I have a second PC brimming with porn; which is why travel is obviously fun for me. I spend hours and hours just hitting numlock and seeing where the four winds take me!

Actually, travel is not 'meaningful' in the sense of what was originally envisioned. Boats and flying mounts will offer things to players to make travel by those means worthwhile, but running from point A to point B is just never going to be some great adventure. That said, the solution we are putting in seems very fair and still allows for some level of exploration while providing a sense of scope and respect for the size and dangers of the world. I will offer more details when I feel comfortable about the implementation, but we are shooting for a '15 minute' rule on a continental basis.
