1.) Browser based MMO.. wtf I can't stand having to type in www.runescape.com every time just to play a game.
2.) Account setup is horrible.. You have to create an account for just 1 character.. so easy to hack accounts in that game.
3.) Graphics are done from Java-Script.. Why java?! you could've used better programs than that. (C++)
4.) Community. Example: Kid 1: hay a gurl!! wanna syber? Kid 2: noob noob noob noob noob noob my main is better! Kid 3: fjlsflsafjsh hehe me spam... god I hate those little kids.
5.) Economy. Just gold? no Copper, Silver, Gold, then Platinum?
6.) Controls. CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK TO MOVE!
7.) Gear. List of Gear you can get: Bronze, Iron, Steel, Black, Mithril, Adamant, Rune, and Dragon.. odd.

People saying Runescape sucks are stupid. Or grumpy for that matter. It's NOT a BAD game. Only very simple.
If there is anything you could say about it which is negative it's:
- Oversecure (So many security obstacles everywhere it ruins the overall gameplay)
- Censorship system (Which you cannot do anything about and almost not type anything either)
- No support (Yes account hacks happends all the time and the creators simply does not care. This is 100% true)
Other than that I really doesn't have anything against it. If we look what we should praise runescape for it's:
- Kinda low subscription fee (50$ / month. Could be slightly cheaper but still ok)
- Easy to learn and play.
- Many things to level in and different things to do (even though many see them as "pure grinding" they still offer much variety)
- "FULL loot PvP" (in special zones and you only get to keep some of your most valuable items)
- It's growing (The world get's bigger and bigger and more things are added rather regularly).
I guess you should have been there from the start to be able to respect and understand runescape. It was very good back in the days and about anyone I knew played it. It's a superB game to play if you want to learn the basics of online RPG gaming.

Alot of people dis it because of graphics but the more mmorpgs you play the more you realize that graphics dont matter and all you want is a game that isnt asain and runescape is that game. I love all the non monster killing quests there are and all the skills there are. And for people who say its repeditive i dont understand that because if you get bored of doing one thing go ahaed and do something else . Theres plenty to do in that game. You want repeditive...try playing silkroad or WoW or everquest. Now those games are repeditive. Your forced to do combat in all those game. Even skills are based around combat. One of you also mentioned that your combat is only lvl 45 but you didnt mention that the game has a total lvl in it. Basicly its like A tale in a desert but free.

It's actually not a bad game at all. You made a few good points but they lack evidence proving you right. As a matter of fact, many of your statements are false. Such as when you die you keep the best 3 items. Not the stuff in your pack. There are around athousand items and are around 100 types of armor or clothing to choose from. What completes this game is the fact its easy to play. No pay (unless you want all features only 5 bucks). No download. And compared to most online games has decent graphics. NVM i JUST READ REST OF POST...SORRY =P.

6. You can't see peoples faces.
7. The 3d-ness makes everything look blocky and jagged.
8. It's a shame that they don't have different weapons besides the one NAMED AFTER MINERALS. (Why is there no gladius, viking sword, etc?)
9. Even though clicking on the mini-map is a good way of traveling, it'd be better if you could HOLD the mouse button to move (Ragnarok Online, Trickster)
10. It's really annoying when noobs close the door on you, and you have to right-click the door to open it again.
11. When you hit things, they make the same sound over and over again. This goes with mining, cutting trees, magic making, cooking....
12. Only one character for one account?
13. Prayer - Burying bones over and over and over again is annoying...
14. Download the client?? It just gives you the page...
15. The only way to get good money was to do quests...

1) combat- all you do is freaking click and slash, no skill involved, no thought process needed
2) traveling- along with having to click every 5 seconds to move, it takes multiple minutes just to get from one area to another cause you have to run everywhere
3) levels- all the game is based on is who has the better level, since theres no skill involved if you have the better level you win
4) community- you can say all you want about the small majority of the people who are good, but you cant go into any city with out people trying to steal your pasword, beg for money, or brag about something
5) lack of content- if your not going to have good combat, you better have a good story line, or entertaining quests. but they are no better collext x,or kill x. sure maybe x will be a ghost or a vampire or something but its still the same
6) lack of varity- you have no variety and what you want to be. your human, thats set. and then they just have the baisic spell caster, sword swinger, or bow man. you arnt actually even one of those classes, you just get to level them
7) graphics- sure games arnt based on graphics, but if your game is going to be this bad you are going to need better graphics then what a 10 year old could draw
8) lack of custimization- with the few diffrent kinds of armour, and the little custimization you have. everone looks like a clone of the person next to them. sure maybe you can be super rich and buy some unique clothes, but you shouldnt have to grind just to look diffrent
9) grinding- the game is just a big ball of grind. sure mmo's need grind to survive, but runescape goes to far. i dont think theres one thing in that game that isnt grind, you shouldnt have to grind to compete
10) over all game play- if i can only just click something to start attacking it, have to stand next to a person who looks exactly like me, click every where to move (you can say all you want but its far insuperior to moving with wasd), have to watch it with horrible graphics, and will always be a level below someone else, i dont see why i should keep playing it

how you don't understand that buffs count as combat skills i don't know.
but to explain it buffs are used in combat to increase your power and combat abilities.
for example i use a buff that increases my max and min damage that is a combat based support skill aka a buff. it may not actually be an attack but its still used in combat and rs is rs they say theres 3 combat skills because they are retarded. and now you know and knowing is half the battle. For everyone who plays Runescape because of the low finance required, I suggest the best Value for money MMO so far is GuildWars. Ok you need to purchase the game to play it but there are no monthly subscription and the gameplay oozes quality.

3) levels- all the game is based on is who has the better level, since theres no skill involved if you have the better level you win
4) community- you can say all you want about the small majority of the people who are good, but you cant go into any city with out people trying to steal your pasword, beg for money, or brag about something
5) lack of content- if your not going to have good combat, you better have a good story line, or entertaining quests. but they are no better collext x,or kill x. sure maybe x will be a ghost or a vampire or something but its still the same
6) lack of varity- you have no variety and what you want to be. your human, thats set. and then they just have the baisic spell caster, sword swinger, or bow man. you arnt actually even one of those classes, you just get to level them
7) graphics- sure games arnt based on graphics, but if your game is going to be this bad you are going to need better graphics then what a 10 year old could draw
8) lack of custimization- with the few diffrent kinds of armour, and the little custimization you have. everone looks like a clone of the person next to them. sure maybe you can be super rich and buy some unique clothes, but you shouldnt have to grind just to look diffrent
9) grinding- the game is just a big ball of grind. sure mmo's need grind to survive, but runescape goes to far. i dont think theres one thing in that game that isnt grind, you shouldnt have to grind to compete
10) over all game play- if i can only just click something to start attacking it, have to stand next to a person who looks exactly like me, click every where to move (you can say all you want but its far insuperior to moving with wasd), have to watch it with horrible graphics, and will always be a level below someone else, i dont see why i should keep playing it

Go look at "Combat Triangle and Tactics" in the Runescape knowlegebase, only three combat skills hence "Combat Triangle" hence very limited PvP options.

how you don't understand that buffs count as combat skills i don't know.
but to explain it buffs are used in combat to increase your power and combat abilities.
for example i use a buff that increases my max and min damage that is a combat based support skill aka a buff. it may not actually be an attack but its still used in combat and rs is rs they say theres 3 combat skills because they are retarded. and now you know and knowing is half the battle. G.I. JOE!!!!

I think the confusion here is that I am refering to Combat Classes where as you are refering to accual buffs and skills.
Please dont start telling me they are the same thing, buffs and skills are a result of the Class you choose. In the case of Runescape this is accually a little confusing and unstructured.
Weather either of us is correct or not, at least we agree on something......RS SUCKS. Even as a freebie it dosn't cut it.
For everyone who plays Runescape because of the low finance required, I suggest the best Value for money MMO so far is GuildWars. Ok you need to purchase the game to play it but there are no monthly subscription and the gameplay oozes quality.
