I just found the battles to easy, I never felt in danger of being killed. I liked the game but they need to make tougher monsters. Did anyone else find the game play to easy?
What lvl did you reach? i played to lvl 8 ranger and found it just right, technicaly I was a noob and such the action should be managable, not a 10% chance wether i will get in a lucky crit and survive a battle in the newbie zone.. The idea of a newbie zone is to get you used to the controls not to shape you into a hardcore fighter.

Depends on how you play it I suppose. I could solo greens and blues to 50 w/o a death if I so chose to do so. I don't need the Devs to spoonfeed me a challange..
You must have been a stress tester. Quite obvious you didn't get very high in the levels.

Try to advance more and do some group quests. Also note that after certain levels you will not be able to gain XP alone. I found it very hard to do solo quests that were marked as fellowship quests. Most monsters in group quests are elite. The most challenging quests for new players may be the ones at the great barrows dungeon. It needs a good team with cooperation and different skills.
It also depends on your class very much. You will notice that some classes can some finish some quests easier while others will find them harder. If a quest says that it is 25 level for group you should not attempt to finish it with lower level Players. You might succed with good cooperation and full group but it will take to much time.
Hunters and loremasters cant concentrate fire easily in dungeons while Fighters and Guardians cannot have advantage in open area combat. Minstrels and captains are very important especially in the heat of battle. Where the mistrels are not able to boost morale captains can after kills. Guardians do not make damage so it would not be wise to venture with a guardian since he takes all the agrro and he strikes mostly with a shield and not a weapon. Good Guardian strikes are mostly triggered after blocks and parrying attacks. Champions are the main fire power. Without them you will find it very hard to finish a quest fast. Burglars have the extreme advantage to sneak and report. They also can paralyse enemies and when you are about to run a good thief knows always how to strike with extreme damage.
This nice imbalance of characters creates the need for a fellowship. However since it is not easy to form a group with every type of class i found it very hard to have a nice group and solo grinding to advance takes a lifetime especially for melee non healer classes.

i'm lvl 24 guardian , barely killing 1 lvl 18 elite mobs lol , I DONT SUCK !!!!!!
I was lv 23 for the last 3 days , so it takes a good bit to get leveled. I handed in 2 quests just now as a level 23, and it moved my bar half a square the quest grind sets in, lets get to work
Side not:
I was totally waiting for AoC, but something with it going to 360 makes me believe it will be a lot more linear witha small chance of fizzle, so i am going with LotRO this year, and will await conan OB.
The early stages of any game are rarely challenging.. like another game I could mention, but won't - the first 10 levels are really a joke, the first 6 even more so, you kill things in 3-5 hits.
It's not something to worry about, every game I've played runs like that, as they should. Just now I'm getting mt Guardian into his teens, and the battles are great, even solo. Alot of my ability atm depends on proccing blocks and whatnot, so the fights are never too predictable. At level 10 the skills I learned were a bit more involved than the ones I had at earlier levels. Both of the attacks are activated after, say, a block occurs and I use the corresponding attack that get's opened. Using that attavk then opens up another one.
Kind of wierd to explain, but it makes the fights a bit more interesting.
Also, as with any other game, things will change down the road. If they find the action is too static for the general populace simple changes can be made and skills added to spide things up a bit.
The opening levels ARE easy and MEANT to be that way. Most players don't want to be clobbered right from the start. Turbine has given players of all skill level a friendly introduction to the game so they can learn the mechanics, enjoy the lore and settle in without worrying too much about dying or getting frustrated. I'm up to 15 now and the game difficulty is scaling up rather nicely. It's easy to get to level 10 without a single death, but after that it gets harder as you take on more challenges.
In some ways, mobs are more difficult than what I've found in other games, particularly VANGUARD. I had to retreat from a fight with an elite mob my level as a 14 Minstrel, while as a 14 Disciple in VANGUARD I could solo a 3-dot and sometimes 4-dot mob my level.
I've noticed that a lot of the people complaining about this game haven't played it very long. From what I can tell its a game that is easy to play initially but may end up being difficult to master. I have yet to figure out how to use the group combo system. It's too early to really comment on what the game will be like long-term since I'm only a week into my beta access. But so far I'm seeing good, scaling game design and that makes me want to see what Turbine will offer down the road.

Age of Conan is not going to the PS3 or the Xbox360. THQ is developing a whole new Conan action game for those consoles where you actually play AS Conan the Cimmerian.
as for the gaurdian class, combat does seem kinda easy. to me though, I enjoy solo play sometimes and this is great for me. the LM is much tougher however. easy to get mobbed with this class. some balancing still needed for the classes maybe. wondering, did you try all classes? lemme know if you did cause im finding many differences in difficulty based solely on class.
Or you could just go play in the Old Forest. Ah, so many hours, so hopelessly lost... Maybe the elite trees will help me find the way out...
The old forest isn't even funny. It is very easy to get lost in there if you don't spend alot of your time in there learning it. If you are just popping in for a quest and are not insanely over the level of the area (where most things are light blue to green, grey con), be careful.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
There is some topics in beta on how easy the game is. In beta two I have two characters in my high teens. The only challange I have found so far is if I try to do the instance quest solo. Every fellowship I have been in has just marched through each instance with very little challenge. The npc AI is pretty weak . The mobs just charge forward and melee and or use range until in melee range. It's easy to run away if you don't want to fight and or close to dying.
The old forest has been nerfed with the last patch they now have paths that show you where to go. This has had lots of players upset on the forums. Another change that a lot of players didn't like was them making it so they can travel to any starting area without having to travel to the area first. It seems Turbine is moving toward making the game easier then it already is.

Play a Guardian, it's way boring.
Playing a Captain, it's very hard.
