Harvest mode/Assault Mode

This weekend i managed to download the GE client. I fired it up and actually am pretty impressed by it.

  1. The graphics are very pleasant to look at.
  2. The stance system could do with more explanation and training. Its a little confusing still.
  3. There are too few noob quests. Apart from the three you get in the training area, most other quests are "wait until you are level twelve" etc...before you can start them.
  4. Lastly, assault mode is quite good...but the only issue i can see is that if one goes to a certain area in assault mode, any loot that has dropped is left behind you like a trail, and you have to go back and retrace your steps in harvest mode, to pick it all up. This is really annoying. It'd be great if you could have ASSAULTANDHARVEST mode, that fights to a point AND picks up any loot.

Admittedly, that could be seen as a little too much 'botting' i.e. letting the computer do all the work, but given that there will need to be a lot of concentration from the player on trying to get all three chars working in harmony, i.e. changeing stances, using skills etc switching between players etc...I don;t think that a HARVESTANDASSAULT mode would be a bad thing.

My two pence worth.

I agree with you on that stance thing, the tutorial needs to be tweeked alittle.

The assault mode....I'm finding more and more its not a good option to use. Like you said, you miss the loot as you travel. Then once they arrive at the spot, they tend to slip out of combat mode and just stand there. I also noted a little problem with the (defencive mode, the one with the shield) when I use the following group combo (Musketeer, Wizard, Elementalist) They don't spread apart enough and the musketeer ends up just standing there as he doesn't move far enough away or something.

What is working best for me is to use the patrol mode. This way, as I move forward I can always click the patrol mode on at any point and the toons space up better and fight a bit more effectively. Also I'm stopped anyway at that point and can harvest once the area is clear. Then move on again.

I don't see it as "botting" at all as you are controlling a group. Not unlike a RTS. If you manage the abilities while they are auto-fighting, that should keep you more then busy. Between special shots with my musketeer, special attacks with the elemetalist then with the wizard, casting reflect damage on each toon in the group every so often as it only last like 30 seconds, then harvesting on top of it, there is plenty for me to do. Especially at the insane speed of the respawns and the combat pacing this game has, you blink at the wrong time and that could get you wiped out.
