After playing it for 3 weeks, now I understand why people hates VG

You guys know why everybody hates this game:

1- It has better crafting than EQ2: Everquest 2 players hate the game.

2- Has fixed some of the MAJOR problems of EQ2 (housing, zones, artistic design...): Everquest 2 players hate the game.

3- It has better graphics and it's more complex than WoW: WoW players hate the game.

4- There's more stuff to do than in SWG: SWG NGE fanboys hate the game.

So basically those are the reasons: the game is awesome, and you know, when something you don't have is better than what you have, it sucks until you finally have money to buy it :)

    that MUST be it!

all those people complaining about the bugs, slow gameplay, terrible FPS, horrible animations and other things like that just can't afford to buy the game yet, brilliant!

Really! It couldnt be the massiv lag huh? Or the complete graphics engine that runs like shit? No, cant be that, that wouldnt affect the gameplay at all.

Or maybe the OP is just expressing his opinion of why he thinks people dont like the game,

I like the game, i admit it could with some polishing but hell i am an old school mature palyer who remembers 7.5 kbs downloads, ZX Spectrum, trust me i went to an emulator and playued some old games and tbh i like this game, so much to do, lots to explore, and helps that i have a guild of like minded people i can play with

Odd first post. Really, Vanguard seemed like it could be a great game for me, theres alot of neat things like quests openning up once you gain enough faction.  Weird dungeon / locations that could unravel into epic questlines and stories like that crazy Vampire house, where theres some level 70 vampire surrounded by lower level (40-50) relatives in a bedroom, and weird secret passages. Crafting with dust drops, kinda interesting coplication system.

Then there is the fact I have to work a job, and dont want to devote every minute of freetime to an mmo'.  Sure I could take the game at a relaxed pace, which would be killing the same mobs every night for a week or two in order to gain a level.  Yeah, the fun just isnt there.  Dealt with grinding some in DAoC in order to get to endgame of pvp... but in VG:SoH its grinding in order to... grind somewhere else.  Sure if the stories and quests progressd faster, I could log in get through a 'chapter' and find out some new entertaining quest plotlines.  But c'mon no mmo' has hired halfway decent quest writers since that one unmentionable british based company which reserves a special place in Gitmo,  yeah where the k-9's will eat dying rabbits out of unmmaed orrifies of those wanna be game makers.

Sure if the community was really that great, I might pay 5$/mo for a glorified chatroom, but I could have more fun playing yahoo pool or chess for free.  if you want to stroke your epeen, get to high level and work the second job of playing this mmo', then carry around a laminated screenshot of your ubertoon to flash to the ladies at the bar.  Darwin's ghost  has some doubts though.

But hey, if you feel like supporting unoriginal games, that dont even deliver the basic .. you know..  fun.. that pong managed to.  Go right ahead, someone will always be there to sell you recycled poo.  I can understand why some people might be fooled into thinking this would be a fun game, and I was fooled enough by beta to buy it and try it.  Now I know I was duped, if you feel like pretending this is a great game go ahead, just like those insane people that think the holocaust never happened, or that goats from Ireland killed JFK, or that aliens probe rednecks nightly to get their kicks.

Good luck on that second post, maybe itll be more entertaining.

I bought the game too.  Upgraded my video card and added another gig of ram.  It still played like crap.  I tuned settings down to almost bare minimum.....still lagged and stuttered.   Cancelled my Station Account.  Pre-ordered LoTR.  Now that game ran smooth on the highest settings during beta and was fun.

I really wanted to play Vanguard too, but way too many bugs.

I love the tone of the OP...

Its like he/she is screaming out agains the overwhelming evidence that points to this game being the   stinker   that it is.  But hey I always say, if you are enjoying they game, then go play it and stop vanboying the forums with you BS.

I needed an upgrade anyway, but vanguard kicked my butt into gear upgrading.   I think the team went the philosophy of having it able to expand and upgrade the world for future pc generations, too bad they forgot to make the game fun enough to keep and gain players until that time.

So Vanguard has inspired us all to upgrade our computers in a vain attempt to better run it in all it's craptastic splendor.  All the better to enjoy the truly GOOD games out there!  Thanks Vanguard, though i wish you a quick but painful death you have assisted my future gaming experiences nonetheless! Oh and my apologies about the beer Ivan.  Beer is a terrible thing to waste, even if it's cheap!

Alright, so the game runs a little slow.  One thing which helped me with graphical lag was overclocking my processor, it's and (duo core) e6300@1.8GHz, it is now a stable 2.8Ghz(per core.)  If any of you attempt to overclock your CPU, tell us if it changes anything.  I noticed a big difference.

If set up correctly, and the settings adjusted, it works like a charm. For me at least. Hint: Shadows are evil for your GPU, yet make little difference to most people.

People that hate it have nothing better to do with their lives.... people who dislike the game do so because it's not to their personal taste.

For example i didn't like the game because:

    - Bad animations

    - Bad spell effects

    - Generic bland graphics

    - Boring combat as a result of ^

    - Tutorial didn't show the really fun features of Vanguard like flying mounts or player housing... Which it should do to grab players in.

    - The starting areas were boring

    - The quests were the same as everyother mmorpg

    - Crafting was tedious

    - Diplomacy was pointless and boring.

    - Community was barren and the ones left playing were fanbois

    - too many bugs

    - Released unfinished

    - No community forums

    - No sense of a community

    - price tag + monthly fee does not justify what your getting in return.

    - Will be 2 years or so before most this stuff is fixed

    - Looks like SOE might lower funding = slower development time

The list is endless for me......

not to say you have to agree, this is just how i felt.

i don't hate VG...I just decided it didn't really suit my playstyle.

I won't slam the game.... nor will I rabidly promote another....

Looking forward to trying other games this year like AOC, LOTRO and many others...
