You call VG a "REAL mmo"? Now, would you please so kind as to explain me what VG makes so special? I just can't see it. Advanturing: killing stuff over and over again. What about tactics or knowledge? No sir, not in this game. Have you ever seen monster AI in Ryzom? If you guys weren't so terribly close minded you might see that VG isn't that great after all.

Crafting: nice ideads, but still a clickfeast under the hood. Ryzom's approach to crafting is far more interessting since you have to know which materials to use and where to find them (ingame seasons for example play an important aspect in this). Even gathering resources is more demanding in Ryzom.

Diplomancy is nice, though. I give you that.

What I simply do not get is why those VG fanboys insist on the idea that VG is so "hard" and that everyone who doesn't think so must be a noob.

I cancelled as I didnt get that addiction thing that usually hits, I found the game ok, the quests pretty cool, the sheer amount of content quite amazing for a release mmo but in the end it come down to "am I enjoying myself playing this game" and the answer was no.

no need for me to come and bash the game becuase it didnt do it for me. have fun those who stick about

You have a pretty stange way of giving other players an understanding of "social skills". Have you ever considered that insulting might prevent other players from grouping actually?

That is relative.  It depend how many languages you talk and which "professionnal" job you have  It also depend if you work for yourself, for someone else and who is handling the PR.

As anything else in life, it is an asset; I rather hire the best programmers and the best artists and then hire a "perfect" PR guy to finish what they write.  It is unlikely to have all the "best skills" in 1 person.  Some bureaucrats tend to enforce writting skills as an elimination mesure when there are too many candidates.

English isn't my native language, and i can spell it fine if needed.

That i choose not to, is something completely different, and it's because i dont care about grammar on a messageboard. At all.. :)

Lets see how well your Dutch grammar is compared to my English ok?

I cancelled my account a few weeks ago too.  Animations are poor and performance was ridiculous.  My System has a 3ghz, Pentium 4, GeForce 7600 GT with 2 gigs of ram too.  All I kept hearing was turn this off, turn this down, lower this setting and do this and that.  Oh, dont forget to stand on one foot, spin to the right and whistle Dixie at the same time.

Sure, a few tweaks when you first start the game is normal, but what some of the posters were telling you to do was MIT stuff....

No game is that good for me to try and constantly tweak it with the system I have.  There goes another $50.00 down the drain.

Ok you don't like Vanguard, fair enough.

Comparing it with LOTRO is not wise though.

Vanguard map is so huge that all the LOTRO world seems like a napkin in comparison (and a used one).

Some people say that the world is empty. Well there are lots of places to see in Vanguard, you just need to find them and yes you need to travel through empty mass of land (like in the real world).

Of course it is better to concentrate all the effort in a mini-me world like that one of LOTRO and take more care of character customisation details and polishness, a bit like a Theme Park where you have all the fun packed in few metre square.................

Sigil did lot of work in creating the world, the crafting sphere and diplomacy sphere, which are games on their own, not like crafting in WOW or indeed LOTRO (which by the way I beta tested for 3 months).

Sigil created lots of content, there are lots of places to see/discover, hundred of quests if not thousands, huge map to explore, lots of content for crafting and diplomacy too.

Plus the chance of a world shaping up around the player rather than a static world like LOTRO.

With the buildng of player built house, cities, shops and diplomacy which changes politics in game, Vanguard is a living world.

Yes Vanguard is not finished yet, the world is so big they couldn't fill all the map with mobs  and  quests (even raid is not yet implemented).

BUT everything that is implemented in the game is packed with conten and fully working (save the occasional bug).

Sigil is now trying to polish the game and finish up the part of the world map which is currently incomplete, and when it will be finished, Vanguard will bring MMORPG to another lvl (That's if u like RPGs).

And what Turbine did? A WoW.02

Yes pretty graphic, yes smooth, yes easy too use, yes is a WoW clone, how daring.............

Dont put words in my mouth i didnt say.

I said that LotRO graphics are FAR better then those of VG (wich is true) and that is RUNS PERFECT ON HIGH SETTINGS

its a comparison just for noting how crappy Vanguard its graphics are coded, nothing more, nothing less.

LotrO is a bad game aswell.

I can tell you are no older than fifteen years old. <invalid assumption>I can tell that Vanguard was too hard for you. <opinion, not a fact> That is fine by me. It isn't meant to appeal to teenagers and rookie online gamers so I am not surprised you won't be playing Vanguard.. <extra period> Based on your gramer, <mis-spelled grammer...hah!> I am not disapointed <spelling challenged are we?> either. I seriously doubt you bothered to try much of the game besides the adventure side. <the only side that really matters> I seriously doubt you plugged into the community much. <there isn't one> You were probably in some little kiddie guild..if in a guild at all. <I'm 49 so anyone under 30 is a "kid"> You probably were looking for groups all the time because you couldn't solo anything. <wait, we've been told grouping is the cornerstone of the game> You couldn't solo anything because you are too immature and impatient to learn how to play your character well or take the time to study the mob enough to know it's weakness. <such a tirade of name-calling is beneath a "mature" player, besides, there's a paragraph or two lost in here>
When addressing the public, it is encourage <grammatically wrong in so many ways> that you take the time to at least TRY to use SOME proper grammer. <you should consider following this same advice> If you have any intention of being taken seriously by anyone old enough to buy a beer. <My son can't buy beer, but he can craft a better post than you> Go back to you <how many errors you going to make..its "your"> max level Hunter in WoW. Maybe you should try Lotr...<no, its LOTRO>I hear the smoke pipes in that game. <what in the world were you trying to say here? perhaps "they have"> You could pretend you are smoking pot...tee hee...<are you a 16 yr old girl?> that would be cool. You could pretend you are all grown up. <smoking pot is grown up? wow..are you a screwed up mess>
What a lousy post. Seriously....that was really, really weak. <amen, I totally agree... oh you meant the other post..I was talking about yours.  Consider leaving VG, sounds like they don't need you either>
He who lives in a glass house should be careful about throwing the first stone.

LMAO.... Kyleran for the win. Funniest post I've seen in a few days... good job.

I too have cancelled my account, but I really wanted Vanguard to succeed and grab my attention in the way that my wife becomes a mmorpg widow.  After the promising cast of creative talent onboard, the screens and promises all I can say is "what a let down".  I bought this game and from day one I became dubious as I could'nt log in until 16.30 hrs due to patches and down time (ON LAUNCH DAY).  The very first time I logged in I was worried because the game was running so poorly I thought there was something wrong with my computer, but alas it was revealed that the game was rushed in order to make a quick buck.   I listen to all the people on these boards who insist it is the bees knees of games but "WAKE UP".  SOE are laughing their asses off at all of us mugs that bought this half assed unfinished poor excuse for a game.

I felt so strongly I submitted a refund request, or asked them for two months free play to cover the cost of the game and the reply I got was classic.  They insisted they had contacted me by email earlier when they had not and the tone of the email confirmed to me that these people are in it soley for the money and nothing else, and shun their commitments to customers.

I hearby make this pledge NEVER TO DO BUSINESS WITH SOE EVER AGAIN.....

I am not anti Vanguard or anything, but eh.. what did Vanguard do that is so ground breaking?  A card game?  Sorry already been done on the ps2.  All Vanguard is, and will ever be is an EQ1 clone trying to relive the glory days.  Vanguard has it's merits but I do not think the OP was talking about gameplay, at least I didn't see any comments about how LOTRO was "Better" gameplay wise then vanguard he just said the graphics were better, they ran smoother on a nice machine.

and for the record, my machine is no where near "The top" but its fricking close:

    AMD FX60

    A8N Sli Deluxe

    2gigs of DDR 3-3-3-5

    SLI 7800GTX 512meg cards

    Raptor 150g 10k RPM drives in RAID0

    Creative Labs X-Fi

and for the graphics I got, the game ran like crap.  /shrug.  Sorry for the fanbois that can not admit Brad and team can't make/optimize the engine they are using to run decent.  But its the same problem we had with EQ1 back in the day during release and kunark and early velious even, for the graphics you got it ran like crap on what was considered current gen hardware for that time.  Vanguard is no different, and Sigil is just SOE with a different name.
