Where the heck is Rohan?
Are there any other mounts than horses? (mounts that fly, e.g. eagles as in the books)
Where the heck is housing?
Is this the final state of crafting? Will any depth come to it? (I mean seriously, what it is now is a joke)
Comments
Rohan will be added in the future as either a free monthly patch or an expansion.
No so far there are no other mounts. No one really used Eagles as mounts in the books, they helped out their friends, they weren't mindless servants. So eagle mounts wouldn't fit into the lore of Tolkien's world.
Housing will be added into the game as well. I believe the last thing I read was shortly after launch.
The crafting is fine the way it is IMO. What makes it have more depth really? Having accidents happen once an awhile and having your character jump up and down and look upset? Currently the crafting has more depth then WoW's crafting and is on par with DAoC. So I think it is just fine.
But of course the way you presented your questions you are more then likely a troll trying to point out faults in the game. If people don't enjoy the game I don't understand why people don't play what ever they do enjoy and stay off the boards for games they don't like. But thats all just imo.
Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)
Anyway.. The crafting system is pretty good the way it is set up, but it badly needs some tweaking for costs/amounts of mats. Otherwise I like it a lot.

The opening poster has expressed some opinions about the game and you've instantly called him a troll. Yet you are yourself expressing your own opinions about him....and you're no troll are you?
I think this automatic labelling is almost as pathetic as ACTUAL TROLLING.
But then so chuffing what...thats just my opinion.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
I never got the whole player housing, it seems kind of barbie dollish to me
I'm not flaming here, im just not getting it
As for the Eagle mounts, i wouldn't rule that out , cause that would be a stunning site !
As for crafting, I really like it , it makes people like myself who hate crafting ,, like it. If you ever play Lineage 2 you kknow the annoyingly hard process at crafting anything good. Having to find the mobs to spoil to get parts , then farm spoil for coal and ect, it was way to tedious and very boring. With LotrO I can jump right in and actually have fun
Really didn't see a huge difference between VSOH and LotRO crafting except VSoH had more time wasting options that even if you messed the process would still complete itself. LotRO erases all the time sink and lets you get right down to business, and alot of people post good crafted weapons and armor in the auction.
who me ?

The difference would of been:
Man the crafting doesn't seem to have any depth at all. Are they going to be adding anything to it?
or even
I don't like the crafting system currently it doesn't have any depth.
Not calling it a joke. Calling it a joke makes him sound like a troll. If the crafting question wasn't worded the way he worded it then he would of gotten an answer from me minus that last little bit about trolling.
I don't understand how people can't tell the difference in language used. When you use language that purposely is going to rub someone the wrong way or purposely are trying to upset someone then of course it is trolling.
Some examples: (these opinions are just things I have seen on the board and are not my personal opinions)
WoW is a game for kiddies. It is way to easy. (troll)
If you don't like vanguard its because you only like easy games and like to be spoonfed your content (troll)
Turbine is a horrible company at releasing MMOs they screwed up DDO and now they are screwing up LOTRO (troll)
See the difference?

Look at his post history, he's a vanboi who hacks at LotRs in every post. But of course the way you presented your questions you are more then likely a troll trying to point out faults in the game. Player housing is about community...............
Players want to group their dwellings together to form cities and such. It allows guilds to play the role of governments and if implemented properly makes a great platform for roleplaying.
Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.

Okay...now this i can handle. Researching previous posts....very intuitive. And therefore maybe I am wrong in my ideals. I'm not saying that the OP isn;t a troll. I am trying to maintain neutrality. But i just feel that the moment anyone expresses negative opinions about a particular aspect of a game, they become an easy target for claims of 'Trolling' etc.
Hell! as someone once said: "Opinions are like bellybuttons....everyone's got one"

who me ?
In this last beta I have two charcters both in there high teens. With both of my charcters I spent a lot of time working on crafting but found I could always get better gear from the AH and or drops or quests. These upgrades from the AH were not gear someone made these were drops. The crafting system in place now is just a huge grind for little to no reward. The only crafting I see popular right now is farming. With farming you can make tons of cash just selling to a npc vendor so you got a lot of players jumping on the bandwagon. I'm sure this will change though before launch. I have dumped crafting for now and will just use the AH to get upgrades or from questing. I will pick up crafting again if they make some changes though I doubt it for time is running out.
This is just my opinion and you can take it for what its worth. I'm not trying to bring LOTRO down for other then the crafting and a few little other things I like this game. The crafting though just kills it for me.
I agree, I don't think LotR is the right platform for this type of play either. Thats more of a sandbox thing. LotR is set in a specific play environment.
With that, my 2 cents, player cities are all fine and dandy but without some purpose other then to just hang out and craft in / dance around in / and chat in...they quickly become ghost towns. No player run cities have ever really been effective or successful at creating a "true" player persistant city/town. They spring up, then when the dozen or so founders get bored with them, they usually die off then liter the landscape.
/shrug, its a good idea but isn't really all its cracked up to be. Housing works pretty well in the games that do have it. Its a place to show off your stuff and depending on how elaborate the game is more then that. UO, SWG and DAoC have the best Player housing. UO and SWG have corpses of player cities scattered all over the map. You can't go anywhere in those games without someone's abandon house or city being there, it breaks any exploration emmersion you might have going on. DAoC keeps its housing in seperate areas. EQII has a very good housing system also. All the building in the city have instanced dwellings in them of assorted sizes. Its a nice feature and I definately don't mind it but its not a game breaker.
I don't really care about player cities (frankly I did that in SWG and am not interested to do it again), but I do want my own house. Sorry, a vault just won't cut it. Having a house gives me something that is "mine" in Middle Earth. I mean, face it. One of the great achievements in real life is to work toward owning your own home. It's natural to want to have a house of your own. A place I can decorate with the trophies of my adventures. A place where I can hang out with my friends before and after adventures. A place where I can put a little part of me in Middle Earth.
Sure, I understand some people don't want to have a house and that's fine. Just don't ruin the possibility for those of us who do by nay saying. That said, housing is going to be in after launch, so I'm happy. Looks like they will start off with Kinship housing, and I hope it goes to individual housing along the lines of how DAoC handles it: Enter an instance that is like it's own large zone with lots that can have houses built on them. That way it doesn't clutter up the game world but also allows for us to view theo utside of the house as well as the inside, and have neighbors.
