So, can you participate as a test server without subscibing and paying the $15 a month fee?
No..you have to be a subscriber to use the test server. They made it so you can use your main characters in the test server. I reads to me like...if you don't have any main players ( ie..subscription ) then you can't play on the test server.

ah, so for the priviledge of testing their product, and providing them feedback, I get to pay $15 per month. America, what a country, isn't capitalism great?
"Good afternoon, sir, my name is Mike, I am with Market Surveys of America. We would like to ask you some questions, and get your opinion, and it will only cost you $15 per minute".

Patch notes from Test as of yesterday. Make of them what you will. These are not all the notes, either, theres a set from 3/1 and 2/28 as well. Say what you will about the game, but the devs are really busting their asses to get the game where it needs to be.

"Good afternoon, sir, my name is Mike, I am with Market Surveys of America. We would like to ask you some questions, and get your opinion, and it will only cost you $15 per minute".
Come on, you are behaving stupid now. The test servers are basically the same servers as the live game, only that the next unreleased patch is applied. If the test servers would be free everyone would play the game for free, and noone would play the live game and pay for it.

Yup, I'll conceed that I am having fun with this. I do think that Sigil should set up test servers by selecting people to actually test the game, and not charge those people, as in, Sigil selects the testers, not everyone can be a tester. Also, if you are selected as a tester, there should be a mandatory feedback survey you must fill out periodically to rate the material in order to remain on the test server, as well as a weekly minimum that you must play the test server content. And no, I would not allow regular server characters to be used on the test server. The test server is business, product developement and market testing, it is not supposed to be enjoyment.
Testing a game is not a free ride to play, and the devlopers have to exercise more control over the players they select. It is perfectly acceptable for Sigil to tell these testers, "We have added this, this, and this. When you log in you will be provide an appropriate level character named Beta9000, go out and test the hell out of the new content and complete this survey".

Welcome in the MMO world my friend. All mmos that have test servers will require a subscription to the game. If you want to test content for a RELEASED game, yes, you pay.
Or you get a job in the QA dept. Good luck with that one, though. Every wannabe game dev and their mother apps for that job, as it's a good foot in the door, and from what I hear the pay is pretty lousy to boot.
EVERYONE knows there are bugs in this game. EVERYONE has FPS issues. EVERYONE is patiently waiting for them to identify these issues and correct them. YET their efforts are concentrated on "dungeon lighting", can I say a big resounding WHAT THE FUCK??? Are they on a self destruction mission.
Granted Sigil are not a part of SoE, but this is somewhat firmiliar to the attitude that SoE have had will all their rush release games. Pretend everythings OK and feed people some bait to get them to pay another $10...
I can't believe some people are just so dumb that argue against patches. Just because the patch next week is an art patch does not mean there are not bug fixes in it. You people will just not be happy no matter what. They could put out a patch tomorrow that fixes every single issue you guys complain about and you will still complain about something even if it has to be made up as a complete lie. These forums are just a disaster troll infested waste of time, if you someone is reading this that is looking for well thought out information about vg do not come here, this is not the place. It seems since mmorpg.com is a dedicated mmo site it brings out all the trash that most don't even want in our mmo experience anyways. So if you are looking for real info about vg go to one of the affiliated sites such as vanguard.tentonhammer.com or silkyvenom.com the downright plain bashing of the game is not so bad over there(still exists though) and you can get more info that actually pertains to the game instead of just a whinefest by some thats only tried for 10 minutes and said omg this sucks, my low lvl spells don't hit for 1k and this mob actually hits back. Most of the major bugs with vg is fixed, atleast for me anyways. Most of the remaining bugs are minor annoyances that can and will be fixed and are not gamebreaking at all. I've never experience a crash during release, never had a memory leak, never found a broken quest, never have trouble with dissappearing mobs(as all you have to do is take a few steps and they'd reappear anyways, besides this is fixed now, haven't seen it since the last patch that was supposed to fix it), I do not have any kind of performance issue(I am usually around 80 to 100 fps in the wilde and 35 to 55 fps in towns) performance in vg is 75 percent your own system, 25 percent coding. anyways well my rant and whinefest about the whiners is over. This is my last post on mmorpg forums. /bye
Woot ! Preach it brother !
The VG haters are getting desparate now ! They are starting to see all that bashing and all that slamming is not having any effect. Most of them will be playing Vanguard within the next six months begging me to make them that Uber Sword of Kill Everything !

Don't confuse the die-hard whiners with facts, Acephalia. And use terms like "lame ass game", "sucks", "horrible", and other meaningless (and to other people, pointless) phrases like that.
Coming up with relevant argumentation will only get you to be targeted by their (granted, sad and misguided) wrath.
I look forward to the post with real, useful and negative content about Vanguard. Sort of like: I do not like Vanguard since the Race and Class selection is too narrow, in game X there was more Classes and they were more different. In Vanguard Class X and Class Y only becomes different past level Z which is too late for me since I'm an Altoholic. Since I like to make new Characters all the time, the whole three spheres is not for me either.
That would be meaningful to other people who like to create a lot of different Characters. Instead we get pointless posts about performance issues with THEIR system (which is then not propably detailed so again, they fail at providing substance) or the ever-popular "this game will fail".
There should be posting guidelines on this website concerning valid argumentation, how to differentiate issues only concerning yourself, bland generalisation being the ammunition of the blind, and similar standard techniques used in written communication.
Nah it's more fun to mess with them. It makes them angrier when you show proof that they are wrong or when you make their game look less then perfect.
So who appointed you that role? No one is angry about it and certainly no one that plays it would say the game is perfect. It's just better than the others.
There is to much destructive criticism going on by people who don't know what they're talking about. You haven't shown proof of anything.......other than proof of the type of person you are.
You do realise you are replying to a post made two years ago, don't you?

The developers will never get it right, they still think people wanna live under the whip of playing a boring game entitled "carrot on a stick" Vanguard's legacy. This game will never take off with the direction its going. This stuff should have been put in 4 patches ago when the sliders where put back in.

You mean interesting, involving and exciting game.
I usually find that people who find things boring are usually boring themselves.
Problem is... this is most of the stuff you are going to see right now.
As a bunch of interms is almost all that is left in the Vanguard Team.
The game is great, but the bugs, glitches and annoyances are just too rampant still ruining it for many.
Silius has just no grip on the team and lacks any clear direction with the game. It's just a bunch of solo pet projects here and there being patched into the game in a buggy state and then they don't even bother to fix it. As ofcourse... fixing isn't fun.
The Smed can't be arsed with Vanguard. That is pretty much clear... hence he is now busy running his only profitable game into the ground right now (EQ2).
