The video on Wii vs the PS3 is hilarious,  blue ray equals overpriced and only produced by Sony and the cell processors imo could be the final nail in the coffin for the PS3, its simply a long and costly process to develop for thus why games are looking to cost 60 to 100 a piece.  I feel bad for the idiots that forked over 1000's for the pile when it first came out only to have a bunch of overpriced garbage titles available to play on the "mighty" ps3.

I wonder how long before Sony as a whole files for bankruptcy what a day that will be lol.

This is the main reason why most people hate $OE, they don't care who they screw over **cough** **cought *** **NGE** as long as they make money out of the deal in the long run.

Goodbye SOE. I am tired of defending you. I was a borderline fanboi at one time (some might say full blown fanboi). I played EQ2 for about 2 years. I bought a station pass for the extra character slots. Vanguard was a major piece of shit. I can't believe how bad something so hyped turned out to be.
Even though Turbine has earned my animosity as an ex-AC2 player, I am enjoying LOTRO so much that I will be buying and playing it when it goes live.

Forced myself to think thrice to re-sub EQ2 and Vanguard now.. its a nightmare for me as a non-US player.

All canceled. Waiting on Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning.

I just don't see it as a good value. I personally invest all my time into one MMOG. I don't see playing 2 MMOGs at once as being worthwhile. You can't accomplish  much in either game that way. Keeping an old account active in a game you no longer play regularly, just to be able to visit now and then, is a waste of money and time. When it's time to move on, move on.

O c'mon, it's more Star Warsy this way.  Remember when Han wants 10k to fly Obi-Wan and Luke to Alderaan, and Obi-Wan instead offers him 17k?  Hiking the price is just adding content in the mind of SOE.  My sympathies to all you Station users who only play 1 mmo.

Even so, there's no real point to the Station Pass anymore. I had considered it, but now there's no real advantage to it.

I agree.  $30 a month is just too much.  The games offered are okay, but not all that.  Vanguard and EQII would be the only ones I'd even use it for, and I could get better rates by simply paying annually in those games.  Just not worth it to me.

SOE have no clue....in anything; games, customer service, business etc.

    LOL!

In all seriously though, this has really made me consider not just dropping my sub to the station access, but also the entire game (EQ2).  Yes yes, I'm one that only plays one game - for several reasons.  Mainly I can only play one due to real life time-wise, and after playing a year of SWG, I just can't go back.  *cringe*

I only bought the station pass to have more character slots...yes  - laugh it up fuzzball!    But I like to dabbled in many characters/classes/races etc.  I could go out and purchase another box and create a separate account, but I can't justify putting out that much money a month.  To those earlier in the thread who are just plain out flaming gamers for being cheap - its not about greed.  It's about sound money management as most of the posters here are trying to explain.  The value of what you get for your buck.  I've played DAoC, Shadowbane, SWG, CoH, WoW, LOtR *beta*, and now of course EQ2.  This change makes me want to leave EQ2, but not for the older games.  Gotta find something new.  *sigh*

Here's my sad sad emo issue.  I would just go back to one account with EQ2.  However, I'm very attached to a couple of my characters I made into the Station Access account.  So, I really really want to keep 8 out of the 10 it allows.  But with the price...eh no thank you.  If I delete them, I may as well just delete them all - ie - cancel my entire account.     I probably should have never gotten the access account in the first place - but I'm so weak when it comes to additional character slots!

So, here I sit (actually I need to be getting to work here soon!), not knowing what to do - indecision is a killer.

Anyone have any recommendations for someone who has turned into a casual gamer-gal due to RL?  It looks like I'll be searching for a new game soon.

When $oE looses paying subscribers (steadily since 2003) they tend to stick it to those remaining by increasing the rate, thereby reducing the aparent lost revenue; usually insisting it was to bring beter service (firing 1/3 the GMs in EQ, farming CS out to india, merging the servers and they are still nearly deserted of population, forcing out staff that refuse to drink the koolade...) Vanguard is their last gasp to stave off twilight. Might as well stick it to those remaining while they can!

Sony has ALWAYS maintained it's future was in consoles and never ever PC gaming.

Yay!  Another bullshit tactic from the world's worst developer/publisher.  Way to go SOE, now everyone just hates you twice as much as before.
  • soaro77soaro77 Member UncommonPosts: 16
It would be one thing if they were actually fixing the damn bugs in Vanguard but there are bugs that have been there since the game went live and aren't getting fixed yet they keep adding more content. All the bugs are getting so annoying. If they don't fix the bugs they won't need new content because everyone is going to quit. And this raise in price just helps ease that decision.

The funny thing is that value-wise it isn't even that good anymore unless you do play more than two of their games regularly.  If you play, for example. Vanguard and EQ2 and know that you're going to keep playing both you get a better deal paying for three or more months in advance for each rather than do this deal.

Sony isn't the smartest company when it comes to business plans on anything beyond their televisions.

The funny thing about PS3 is that stores were getting more returns than they were sales, those Ebay speculators were all having to return their units unsold.  Which I'm SO glad about, damn speculators ruin everything!
  • DrowNobleDrowNoble Member UncommonPosts: 1,297

So they get an xtra few bucks in revenue a month but will probably lose a lot more in subscribers.  This used to be an actual deal if you had more than 1 SOE title to play, but not anymore since it's probably rare that anyone plays more than two MMOG's at a time.

I don't think this was a conicidence that they hike the rates just as Vanguard's free month is running out.

They also raised the price of Planetside to $14.99. WTH would you raise the price of an MMORPG?? What the hell are they doing???  Anyone else remember the days when SOE was gold? Because of EQ if it had SOE on it you knew it was worth trying? Then they started getting greedy, doing stuff half assed and it all went down hill from there.

Hah, thats a brilliant way to boost revenue SoE, alienate the subscribers you do have and turn away all the ones who were thinking of subscribing! BRILLIANT!

I wanted to start playing EQ and Vanguard soon, but now I most definitely will not. Lost another customer, congratulations!

Does anyone have some of what SOE is smoking? Because i'd sure like to get some.

Sony = Blunder after Blunder after Blunder.

The PSP, no hard drive, only takes memory sticks, no support for homebrew, UMDs (Why pay again for a movie I already own on DVD?).

Then the PS3, Oh lordy, late, way to expensive, shoving a format down our throats we don't want.

    And now this,

Keep it up Sony, and get ready to say "Syanara"

I've never witnessed a company so seemingly intent on screwing over their fanbase and their own reputation to boot.

No doubt they will very soon raise the individual subscrption charges of EQ, EQ2, VSoH etc to make the new Station price a 'bargain' once more.

I have to say that I'm pretty much done with SOE now as well. Haven't logged into EQ2 in a couple of weeks, logged into Vanguard only a couple of times since it came out (since it runs like crap)... No way can I justify $30 just so I can login to EQ, EQ2, and Vanguard a couple times a month.

The honest truth is I'm sitting here with an open EQ2 account, got a 90 day game card to retry it for the holidays, and an unsubbed Vanguard account (another gift via gift card at EB) waiting to be installed and subbed.  I fully intended to use the station pass and sub to both games, now when the EQ2 runs out I might just be done with SoE games totally.  I'll just let the Vanguard sit here unused, unless I hear amazing things about the game over the next three months (doubtful).

Damn, Sony is just plain stupid when it comes to making smart business choices.  Couldn't happen to a worse company, well may Lucas ... :)

just paying for 2 mmo's is sounding like a much better deal.  i loved the value that station access offered.  now that value just isnt there.  not with that lineup.

    Games i'm playing right now...

The extra 5 bucks is not a lot of money until you look at the value you are getting. $24.99 was barely o.k. since I was playing EQ2 and checking out VG. Now, I just need to decide which game I will be playing, subscribe to that, and cancel the SA.

Now that I think about it, I am actually happy about the price increase. I will now save myself the extra $10.00 a month I was paying.
