Out of all the MMO's Xfire displays stats for, SWG is ranked number 8, for December 06 anyway. You can see the list here, http://www.xfire.com/cms/stats/. Proof that SWG isn't doing as bad as many people wish to think?
Yea your point is? Does Xfire track everyone online? No. Stop trying to denie the truth any player that played pre-cu can easily see that it is dying. Where there once was 20 people minium there is now 1 person there, just passing by.
Why do you think SOE delayed reporting the players to MMOcharts for nearly a month after every other MMO they track? Oh because they knew their games are dying.
Maybe that stuff I just smoked was a little to strong but I think you are wrong my good sir. I am reading that Silk Road was #8 on the list and SWG is not on there at all.

ahh, only proves that it is. RF online doesn't have many people to begin with, not mention like in my first post Xfire tracks a small amount of the people that play games.
Oh ok I gotcha now thanks for the info! Seems to be that it was #8 MMO. Way to go SWG and it still has a few years on its belt but it is definately dieing.
To those clicking the link, you need to click the Top 10 MMO button
This is by no means an accurate comparison, and there are alot of if's and but's that could be debated. But these are real numbers (in hours), not estimated like with MMOchart.com
MMOchart is not estimated, their what the companies reported. And SWG is dying, just admit it. SWG will be dead in 2 years max, I wouldn't be surprise if it dies this year.

Doesn't matter really, What I've been saying is wrong SWG isn't dying....
IT'S DEAD, and has been for the past 2 years, ever since the CU came out. The game your playing right now isn't SWG but just the NGE. SWG was about the communtiy, which there is none now, the unquie player profession system as in no levels, being able to mix and match professions. I could go on and on about all the things that are now gone that were SWG, but I have neither the time or paitence to teach you.

pull your head out your fanboi ass, its almost beat by solitaire and its destroyed by diablo 2, they may not be mmo's but the numbers speak very loud as proof swg is doing just as poorly as we all know it is.
personally i think you're just a fanboi troll. i spent a few mins and found you on 3 forums with totaling 10k posts, anyone who trolls as hard core as you over one game has no time for playing it.
All I can stress to say is... If your having fun than who cares? I am having fun playing SWG and being a Vet of pre cu I learned to accept the changes. They are going to bring back some cool stuff soon anyways.
SWG has about 5800 hours logged of people online with it...
so yeah, I could bet that 3000 people have xfire that play SWG.. and log in when they play.
WOW looky there.. RF online has 4000 lol......
No comment on RF Online....lol But yeah gooo SWG lol.....
Um... did ya happen to see WoWs stats by chance???
lol

I used to care about the future of SWG, I was a huge fan of the game before NGE but I came to a realization recently, even if they bring back the old system its to late for me. As time has passed I've found other stuff I enjoy and the idea of going back to a dated game at this point simply isn't gonna happen. If they had rolled stuff back six months ago I would have been all over it but now interest has simply died for the game that I loved for years. SOE may have just accomplished what they wanted I don't see many people posting over bringing back the old system simply because like me, they have moved on and nothing, not even classic servers, could change that now. To those that still enjoy have fun in game I wish you the best but my SWG days are over for good.
SWG is dead as far as I can see. The Dev's are talking a good game right now about putting content into the game and Beast Master. Trust me, we'll see Beast Master but will we see any of the content? Hell no, remember they had polls and asked the players what we wanted last year. We told them content, what did we get? The WoW Talent system, something NO ONE wanted. We've had Pilots asking for new Space Content they are ingored by SOE. Chapter 5 was a joke, the RE system sucks, the Entertainer stuff no one wanted (btw it's nice and laggy in every cantina now) the PvE and PvP is a big joke.
What that letter should have said was "We're shutting SWG down." Rather then more SOE lies.
All I want to know is does SWG now have more subs then at any time of pre-CU?
I'm quite certain the answer is a resounding no. If you want to post proof of this then by all means post a screenshot of the server listings. That is the truest means of gauging the popularity of SWG, because most of us remember what the serer listings were prior to Nov '05.
Honestly, I look at that top ten list and MMOs I've barely heard are beating SWG
Makes me want to try out Silk Road to be honest.

MMOchart has never even looked in the direction of sound mathematics. The person who made the site was here for a while tryign to prove his accuracy, but disappeared after his data being ripped to shreds, as it should have been.
Not that this chart proves much either. It is the number of hours a day play on xfire. Not only is the xfire sample small, but the number of hours doesn't mean much. Two players online for 24 hours a day would have the same weight as six players online for four hours a day. Two players means about a 3rd the income and success for the game as six players does, but according to the chart they would be equal.
All in all though, as some stated: play what you enjoy. If you dislike a game suddenly because it is less popular on sme forums than why were you playing the game in the first place?

The number of users logged into SWG with Xfire is very small, considering there seems to be a conflict that causes the game to crash with Xfire running. One reason I removed xfire, myself.
Lol if you were trying to use the xfire chart as a way to show how good the game is doing, well it totally backfired. The chart shows how badly swg is doing.
No, it shows that the few people that run Xfire while playing SWG still managed to put it at number 8. Considering the fact the games like Silkroad and Flyff have millions of people playing, mainly from the Asian countries, the fact that SWG shows up at all proves there are more playing than you tend to believe. Actually, the chart shows the top 10 mmo games with the highest number of players who run Xfire at the same time, if you want to be technical about it.

Incorrect: The chart shows the total hours playerd per day on average during the month of december (referring to the xfire: december 2006 top 10 mmo role playing games chart.). Reading charts is fifth grade math.
And, also to clarify further: you cannot leap to the conclusion "that SWG shows up at all proves that there are more people playing than you tend to believe." You have no clue what the sample size is and usage statistics can be be very easily blown out of proportion.

You are correct, I confused hours with players. However, my response to Frenz regarding SWG doing badly is still accurate, as there is nothing in that chart that says SWG is doing badly, only that so many hours were accrued by the people running Xfire. And to be fair, there is nothing showing that any of those games listed are doing good OR bad, only that people running Xfire in game had their hours played tallied.

Your statement is not accurate though, as highlighted in the quoting. All that you can conclude form the chart is:
1. People are able to run SWG and Xfire (which has included me in the past. Maybe your SWG issue is related to something else than the game directly)
2. SWG accounts for just about .05% (using rounded numbers from totals, all rounded down so SWG is actually slightly less and this does not need exacting precision) of the total average hours played on xfire. As someone else mentioned we do not know the number of players putting in these hours (the sample size). If xfire has abut 1 million users that would average out to about 500 players in SWG. If there is 100 million users that is 50,000 players on average. Although that is weighted rather high since it is well documented thaqt the average MMO player playstheir game longer than other gamer types (they tend to play about the same amount of time, but rotate between a few games ttal). So, the it would not be unreasonable to estimate the number of actual players slightly lower.
You also mentioed that you (and most likely others) have issues with xfire runnign while SWG is running so without documenting this in conjunction with the unknwn information about the total xfire system...Well, all we can conclude is that some people of an unknown amount playing an unknown amount of time a day are able to login into SWG while xfire is running. So, nothing about its success or failure.

It's almost creepy sad actually. You log in any server and hit up the major cites and you can see the difference.
