So....looting?

I have seem all the videos, blogs, ect. showing PvE but my main concern is what about loot? I see these people killing mobs but i never see them pick up loot....

Is it all on an  Auto-system that picks up the loot and gives it to you. Or did they make it so only specific/quest mobs drop loot?

If  anyone has info about this subject plz tell me.

Most "game play" trailers leave out the looting process.  I am fairly sure PvE looting will be similar to all other MMORPGS.  You will right click and loot the body.  Having an auto system would just make things harder to manage.  I don't loot 100% of the stuff that drops in WoW, and I know I won't in WAR.

Although, anyone who has any info can't talk about it yet.

Did a little digging for you on this as I was sure you could loot from players too, I found my answer in a EA Mythic conference call

    Loot Distribution

Q: How do you plan to handle loot distribution for gear in WAR?

A: Loot distribution will be handled several different ways, very random rewards, all the way up to very planned out mechanisms. IE, the Public Quest system, where you get to pick your rewards. There’s a lot of ways, drops from monsters, drops from players, drops from RvR capital cities, where you can pick up loot from loot piles, rewards from capturing enemy kings, and their capital cities. Long story short, you get what you deserve, and you get what you work for.

    There you go

    There you go "loot piles"

    Sounds good to me.

I think the bigger and stronger looking characters (such as Orcs), should pick corpses up by their ankles and shake them about to drop the loot.

Ah but that may get a little tiresome while grinding...

Work!? Do you have to work in WAR. U play games when u come home from work/school after working and u play games to relax after working, geez. Just joking (if u didn't understand that). seems to be a nice system, thanx for the post.

Well, you'd have to work somewhere in this game, I'm sure. That's kind of what makes MMOs...MMOs.

I dont tend to call games work, they might be a pain and it might take u a while to reach ur goals but in the long run you play for fun not to work. Work is when u get a job and have to sit next to a smelly guy in a tiny cubical half the day with him doing w/e your boss tells u to, work is not sitting on ur @$$ all day and playing MMO's

I mean, no one wants to work like they do for a living - that sucks (unless you have one of those rare jobs that is fun...like working at Mythic, but I am sure even that wears thin). However, if you do not have to put in some effort, then achievements mean little or nothing.

The hardest thing to balance in an MMORPG is this, I think. You need to make the players work, but in a fun way. It needs to feel almost as if they are not working at all.

This sums up my feelings on an MMO. If anyone here has played UO you know what he's talking about. Treasure hunts come to mind. You had to decipher the map, locate the position, travel there (at least the case before rune libraries), dig up the treasure, deal with the spawn, which could end up being some nasty creatures, loot the chest and hope a blood or poison elemental doesn't spawn next to you (well before they became incredibly easy), and leave. It sometimes took an hour or two to do this but the time flew by if you had some friends because, damn it was fun to treasure hunt. The key is to make you work for it but make it enjoyable. I think it'll be fun to raid a city and take their treasure. That to me is going to make this game great.

I miss my UO Treasure Hunter now .

EDIT: Hmmmm...must've forgot how to do HTML...could someone show me how to fix that?
