I've been playing EQ2 this past weekend. I have a charator up to lvl 12.

I'm just not feeling sucked in....   I rarely see other players in the game, probably most are higher in level and in the higher level areas. The charactor I'm playing is neet. It's the DD bard class. It's funn enough. But the game itself just does not feel very friendly. It's difficult to find the places and things I'm suppose to be doing for the quests I'm given. It's easy to die from falling I have found out.

I donno. I'm just not feeling like it's all that fun to play.

Yeah, I'd do Betty....
But I'd be thinking about Wilma.

Seriously, you can track as scout. If even that fails why not try EQ2Map?

Your remark about falling damage made me laugh tho. I knew people having fun with trying to achieve the highest fall damage. Oh and... you got safe fall as well as scout (least you had then I played). Might be a idea to jump of obstacles only as high as you can manage with current skill level and therefore skill it up?

Well if you dont feel like the game is fun, there isnt much anyone cant do unfortunately :)
If you major concern is finding people of your level to play with, have you considered finding a more crowded server?

Eq2 is a great game compared to some of the other mmos like vanguard, the voice overs really immersed me for my first time...the graphics were awesome and performance was great...there are really no negatives to eq2

    EQ2s two main problems:

    1) SoE

    2) Too many low pop servers

Can someone recomend a server with more low lvl players on it?

... See, I never get that kind of attitude. This game is friendly to all levels. And there are plenty of low level players on every server. If you don't like the game, then maybe it isn't for you. For me, this is the best game I've played and I've played more than justa few.

That's simply untrue unless you count all the level locked twinks. It's next to imposible to find a PuG on vox (or was when I last unsubscribed, 2 months after EoF). I got around 90% of my xp from soloing or douing up untill around 60.

There are a few things that strike me as odd about this post.

First, Vox is a Station exchange PvP server so it’s double specialized. I would not be at all surprised to see it lightly populated.

It’s a PvP server though, and on PvP servers most people don’t like to head out solo.

An additional complication is that most people go /anon to hide their class, which also means they won’t show up on searches.   This makes it hard to see how many people are online, and means you can’t really use the LFG tools effectively and need to group up the old fashioned way.

I would agree that EQ is extremely user-friendly - some critics complain it does too much hand holding - and that it has a mature, friendly crowd. Where I would disagree is the comment "on every server". Some servers have a bigger population than others, and it all depends on the user's time-zone.

I server-transferred from a high population server [Antonia Bayle] to Najena, which is a moderately populated server and is the un-official Antipodean server - despite the fact that I am a Brit. I felt fraudulent running around with a purple RP tag on my head, when I was often either too tired or didn't have enough time to properly RP.

Although the chat channels are quieter on Najena by comparsion, there are always lowbies advertising for groups - either Black Burrow or Wailing Caves. The problem for the OP is that groups really do not start happening until mid teens, and even then into T3 [20s] because it is far too easy to burn through the low levels unless you level lock (as I do, prefering to level through quest exp).

With regards to not feeling the immersion or interest in the game, then I can sympathise because as much as I think EQ2 is a wonderfully polished game with depth, it feels too familiar [gameplay and mechanics] and lacks the character of EQ1 despite possessing immersive qualities. When I have time to log back into the game during April, I will be looking for a group - either Graveyard instance or Wailing Caves - as I suspect that grouping and feeling part of the community will counter-balance the blandness of the Commonlands.

Stick with EQ2 a while because the view is that the game really begins to take off in T3. If you don't think that you can develop the interest, and you are not enjoying the experience, then look around and find another MMORPG that piques your interest. Don't feel obliged to stick with a game if it fails to ignite your interest.

EQ2 is Norrath, but not as you knew it during EQ1. It's an attitude adjustment that I still find myself fighting.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope that you find a game that sparks your interest.

    Regards,
    Riotgirl

Vox's pop is about as low as it gets for the NA servers, trust me.
