PvP?

I don't know if I missed a message or didn't read it somewhere but is there going to be PvP?  Also what kind of PvP?  Like in EQ where there are certain areas or the PvP like in Shadowbane?  I noticed that in some of the trailers they looked like they had PCs beating on other PCs.

 

I really hope that PvP isn't the main aspect of the game (that's what making me not get ingto Lineage II)

Yes, there will be PvP. There is no word on how it will function though.

Seeing how Ryzom is very group oriented, you can expect guild wars to be part of the game. This will probably be accompanied by designated pvp areas and/or arenas for group and single player challenges.

They could make it full open race/factional pvp but it would probably drive away all the carebears who pay good money to sit around and level into infinity while camping for uber loot on the weekends.

Most MMO companies will shy away from making PvP anything but consentual. Only a select few will push the envelope and show some balls by making PvP an integral part of their gaming systems.

Its guild based iirc. Your guild can declare a war on another guild, at which they have the choice of accepting the war straight away, or declining the war, in which case the war will start after a couple of days grace period (to allow the declining guild to get some allies against the aggressor guild). These wars are fought over over outposts that can be claimed by guilds. Dunno if these outposts are in PvE lands or whether there's a special "frontier" like zones where PvP is allowed (much like the frontier zones in DAOC).

I'm glad it's not open PvP.  The oupost idea sounds pretty cool, much promise there.
