apples and oranges, my friend, apples and oranges.

As they are for two completely different target audiences, the games are completely different.

This comparison basically boils down to PvP vs Non-PvP games. Fantasy vs Sci-Fi.

Answers you get for this poll will be based mostly on those preferences.

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

LOL so not true.  The games are almost identical, except visually.  They both have the typical MMORPG format, do quests, lvl up etc.  Instead of fighting monsters you fight thugs.  And CoH owns any other MMORPG so far.

I have to agree with Nolf, these are totally different types of mmorpgs.  The mechanics may be similar but fantasy and sci-fi make all the difference to many peoples tastes.

    they are almost identical?

PvP? Loot systems? The way zones are set up? The speed/ease of LvLing? The target audience? Items? Crafting? Grouping? Assisting system?

They are both MMORPGs, but as far as this genre goes, they are about as different as games can be.

I'm not even arguing with you on you preference for CoH over every other game. That's purely a taste issue.

The huge difference in the games, however, isn't.

I think you´ll have to be able to compare apples and paers in this case. What it boils down to is how much FUN the game delivers to you. A well made PvP game can be better than a bad PvE game an d vice versa. Some games have great PvP AND PvE, and those are obviously the best. L2 has good PvP and bad PvE ( the other night I was fightning in a dungeon telling my teammate I was boored, and he replied "Yeah, but it´s good XP" - that´s just nuts), and I heard CoH have only good PvE and a great quest system. Dragon Empires will have great PvP AND great PvE/quest system.
