When I saw the screen shots showing that the characters were bright and vibrant instead of looking as realistic as possible. Then I read about the quest and the way they were going to make it easy to notice ppl who would give out quests. This is why I decided to play. Hype is not how I decide about games.

Nicely done with that sticky Ominis, I believe that thread was well developed and explains quite alot about the important factors in todays mmo's. I would have to agree with most of the major points of that thread. The entire game seems so intrigueing that I spend most of my time that I research upcoming and developing mmo's I spend on Wow and its delemas that are constantly brought up on its community threads. Though it does have its downfalls, the amazing thing about them is that its dev's and community managers spend quite alot of time reading and responding to the issues that its testing community addresses. Though anyone can spend a few extra moments consoling the compaining ppl that they let into beta, the difference is with Wow is that they listen to there community and adjust to what the masses feal is appropriate. Its very strange to actually see a game change and develope based off of outside opinions. ...what I mean by that is they dont ignore there player base like every other mmo company does! well, that is my opinion.

Your scathing wit and daring insight into the turbulent political crags of the internet are shining beacons of truth and purity for the slight remaining masses of visionless hypocriticial sheep who bleat at the thought of your glory

The reason that i want to play WOW is because i rarly play WC3:FT and would rather play a mmorpg that is 3D. Because the only mmorpg that i play is RO which is okay.image

WoW looks like a great game, the graphics are awsome. The gameplay looks awsome, rest state looks... healthy for nerds.  But i wont be playing it, because of one reason . thats EQ2.

I played EQ for 5 years and acct was hacked yada yada yada.  EQ has a history and im stuck folowing it. how all the zones are 500 yrs later. and the two starting cities are good ones.

Wow Looks great, is my second choice by far.  But only one MMORPG at a time.

    BTW FFX11 SUCKS

-- Currently playing WoW while waiting for vanguard
    Explorer 66%
    Socializer 60%
    Killer 53%
    Achiever 20%

PLEASE SOE MAKE A CLASSIC EQ SERVER. Shadow of luclin was a prick in EQs side. PoP Was a gun to the face.

I want to play WoW because the game looks really awesome, the graphics are pretty good, the game world looks big and vast, and I like the gameplay features except for the rest state which really sucks. I also like the PvP system, there can be some changes though. I think this game is gonna kick ass. I'M NOT WORTHY!!! image

Hahahah stereoviwer that has to be the worst reason of all, WoW has no quest system. 'Kill x and bring me y' does not count as a quest, that counts as lazy writers. UXO has a quest system, where you actually make decisions and shape the outcome of the quest, and thus the rewards and story change because of your choices.

Ive read enough info from press sites and peoples opinions who have played it in Beta, i suppose some people dont mind those kind of quests but i would rather actually play a game where i can *roleplay* and make my own decisions to create a character and do quests where i feel theres a point to them other than 'i need a book from a fellow mage, please run around for 2 hours and kill stuff while you go pick it up, then bring it back to me' image

Not sure why everyone else wants to play WoW, but for me the following reasons are part of the equation.

    1) Blizzard has never released a game that was bad. Ok, some would argue WC3 was not the best. But WC, WC2, SC, D1, D2, and DLoD where, and still are, among the most addictive game ever made.  Furthermore, they are concidered to be classic must haves in any gamers collection. Some will debate the quality of these games, but many gamers will LOL at their feeble atempts to prove otherwise. Then again, WoW could be Blizz's first bad game. You never no.

    2) The Warcaft Story Arc is well defined and unique. Many of the lands open to players are the same lands they have played through in the WC series.  God, I sounded like a Blizz Rep just saying that line. That also goes for the NPC, races, and classes. Except the Tauren, WTH?! Where in the blue blazes did they come from?!

3)The Graphic look awsome and from what I have heard the background music will just be as gripping as the eye candy.

4)I like how they are handling the death "penelty". Giving the player a choice of how to handle death.

5)Blizz has always managed to produce a game that is easy to learn and quickly addicting. From the skill interface to the combat system. Also, they have managed to provide content for both the casual game and the power gamer, and ignore the grifters.  Same as reason No. 1, Blizz could do this wrong. Who knows?

6)As someone else wrote. What else is there to play? Heck anyone willing to give L2 and SWG a try should at least give WoW a turn. Ok, J/K do not go postal on me. :p. Truth, there are many games compeating for our attention, WoW among them. But, so far they have all been nothing earth shattering. Not to say WoW will be earth shattering, but Blizz is known for breaking new ground.

    7) Lastly, I just want to get in the game and say "New Troll Here!" once, LOL

    Good luck and have fun

    *yawns*

While I am sure I will try out WoW, I not looking forward to it. It will simply be another MMOG. It will simply be set in the warcraft universe which I will enjoy and maybe I'll find a good player community to become a part of. However....WoW as a MMOG that will seperate itself from the others is way off base in my eyes.

It will simply be another MMOG in my eyes and the features of the game will simply be another game, set in the Warcraft universe which I enjoy but its not a complete selling point for me.

I want it to mean more to be on either side of the racewar. The crating or the questing won't make or break the game in this respect because I won't powergame it as quick as someone else will and I'll read about its far reaching affects that someone else has accomplished before I'll ever accomplish it so its just an also ran in my eyes. I would be more excited if I knew that I were the first one to be finding out these uknown affects but I know I won't beat out the super powergamers.

With the way I was so completely deceived by SoE and SWG. I will never believe in the comments that people make how Blizzard will make this the greatest game ever, or Blizzard has a huge history of being so fantastic with their games. I'm painting a picture right now its me throwing grains of salt around the room and just nodding my head saying yeah whatever. When I see it I will see it.

As well with how I've seen how te Dev Team members of UO are such cattle herders its a joke how much credit ever DEV team member on any MMOG staff gets.

For anyone who still plays and follows UO, Hanse is posting more now than he has ever posted why is he so upfront communicating all his PvP adjustments now when he has never communiated any other change in the past when every player was practically begging for some communication on the future of the UO game.

I think every single Developer of any MMOG needs to be punched in the face hard by any Player who pays for their game and screamed in the face "Listen to your players and remember who we are you stupid bugger" Then that Developer should go back to work with that pain of the punch and the words ringing in their ears. Stop being such pompous asses and thinking you are gods when you simply are not when your not making anything that is not another also ran MMOG.

    1) Blizzard's making it

    2) No upgrading costs like EQ2image

    3) Beta already looks polished, and its not even half way through, plus they actually listen to the beta testers and are always looking at other MMORPGs strengths and weaknesses to improve their game.

    4) I read up on it everyday and have been craving to play it since the first time they announced it was going to be created!

    5) Getting tired of playing FFXI... need a new MMORPG!

Looks dated .Boring. Slow  combat no diffrent from anything already out. Staggered world wide release forcing European players to play in darkness ( if i read it right) or wait for months ,soo5 minimum, to play.

Theres nothing that interests me about this game at all. Dated cartoon graphics are no better than  breast fixated L2 graphics. Diffrent types of graphics but still boring.

Gameplay wise combat is still pretty much  boring.

Uh, blizzard making it isnt a good thing really, it jsut means it will be a more polished version of a game thats been done before, WoW is a perfect example of this. Blizzard does a good job with RTSs but their RPGs are pretty much crap.

And every single MMORPG ever released has had upgrading costs, and WoW will be no different. Expansions cost money, and they can only release so much content before they have to add a new land mass or player race or class or system that requires an expansion and not a patch.

I want to play WoW because its the first mmrpg to put a huge emphasis on quests. Quests are simply tons of fun (especially if they are well scripted). Any mmrpg can do combat, crafting and/or pvp, but few break the mold and try to offer MORE. DAoC offered more and was a blast to play, and my fingers are crossed that WoW will be as good or better.
