Why the hell do some publishers care so much of trying to release their MMORPG on Console?

Do they think that making their game on console platform leverage their game or their game leveraging their platform?

Do they think its strategic move? I don't like MMORPG being sandwitched between console giants arm race.

Console sux. I hate consoles.

Ima have to say that the consoles have a better feel to me and tend to be more accessible. plus they have better voice communication in my opinion. who knows, maybe consoles will be what keeps the mmorpgs alive and what brings unknown titles out to the casual gamer.

 Ok I will cool down a bit here then.

I don't even consider this as a heated up debate as much as it's tempted to lead it in that direction.

However, it has to be spoken with certain degree of passion, that most of hot titles this year are exclusively for PC platform, you just name it (GW, HL2, STALKER, UT2k4, Far Cry, L2, WoW, CoH, EQ2, etc). Given this fact, now lets talk about what you call future of gaming.

Again, give me single reason why would anyone should feel so compelled to play games on consoles if he/she owns a PC and can play those games on it.

fact: in some years hardware acceleration will have surpassed the demands from software - easily, this is already the case with the high-end hardware available, some few games can use the hardware fully, this will also be the case in consoles.

 

Consoles have harddrives now, and it is said that the GPU's are becoming so powerful that they can even act as a normal processor as well, so in the end a console will be a PC, and a PC a console, so the future of gaming is in hardware I'd say. The enthusiasts will choose to mod their own, others will buy a console style PC, and some just an ordinary PC as we know it today, but the content of these will be the same.
