Level Cap

Does anyone know if there is going to be a level cap like WoW? If so any ideas on what it might be?

It sounds as though there will be a level cap, yes, but as to what it is I do not know. If I had to guess I would say 50-60 or so, as that is the industry standard before expansions.

There are 4 tiers with 10 ranks in each tier, basically giving you 1L1 - 4L10, which will probably just end up being referred to as 1-40.

Just look at the website. It explains the tiers and how the progress. There are four tiers. (1-40) and 1-9 will kinda be like the first pvp bracket. People in the 10+ won't be able to invade the 1-9 battle front. You can enter theirs at your own risk. It's the same way with all four tiers. Pretty interesting really. Watch the podcast.

I agree with Riddle, seems like a valid theory.

I remember that they had originally wanted NOT to include any levels whatsoever. However it didnt work within the game they were building so they came up with the Tiers which is a compromise between not having any levels and having something to measure yourself against. I am very excited to see how far removed (if at all) the tier system is from the basic levels are (as we know them) and how it plays out in the long run. (I dont have time to find the interview where this was stated).

Yeah although almost every other MMO has used the words level (note: I said almost, back off fanboys) to indicate your current standing, I believe WAR will be using a system called Tiers and Ranks. It should be interesting. I remember reading somewhere that experience will also be granted for pvp/RvR activities, which is a huge incentive to get right into pvp instead of waiting around until you have a "level" advantage.

Yeah there always has to be a way in which to indicate how far you have advanced in the game and I believe the Tier system will work very well. I dont believe its going to be 10 classic levels (as we know them from games such as World of Warcraft) per Tier as some people are speculating but rather a bracket within which certain skills and equipment are available to the player. It might have been in a specific video interview that I heard this but I believe this Q & A from IGN explains it pretty well.

    Is there leveling in W.A.R?

There will be an advancement system, however no levels as such. Though grinding will not be needed with the skill based system. There is also going to be a career system which will be used to advance within RvR (RvR != PvP) A decked out veteran will be a lot better than a newbie, the "levels" will make a diffirence

There will be a lot of skills though, more than Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

The more you use a particular weapon type the better you become with it.
