Instead of purchasing Epic...can I....?

Hi all;

Just called Eb Canada and the price of the Epic collection is $40 as opposed to the $10 of our American friends.
However, I have noticed that the same EB offers an earlier edition of the game for $15. Is it possible for me to purchase this earlier edition, use the CD key from it and apply it to the download? Will I get the same content as the Epic collection? Or am I best to just by Epic?

    All the chronicles are free so any version will do. It will patch it to the current version no matter what key you use.

    The Epic edition just has some out of game bonus material, behind the scenes DVD, stuff like that.
