Desert of Flames 30 days?

lee91092lee91092 Member Posts: 39
Hello, I just purchased Desert of Flames. On the box it does not say about the 30 days free. Is there 30 free days with this? On the other expansions and on original EQ II it says there is. In case this makes any difference, this is the first Everquest II game I've bought, and I have played the trials before.

Its been a lil while since I stopped playing EQ2, so Im not sure if Im entirely correct on this, but Im thinking you need to have the original EQ2 game in order to install the expansions. I think your best bet is to get Echos of Faydwer expansion, over the DOF expansion, only because when you purchase EoF you get to unlock ALL the expansions with just that one expansion ( box version only-- not the downloadable one). Again, Im thinking you need to have the original eq2 game client first. DOF is a nice expansion, however it wont become user friendly to you really till your late 40's. EOF expansion is great at lvl 1 all the way to 70:)

EDIT: I also am unsure if there is a box version with the original eq2 + all expansions ( perhaps someone else knows if EoF comes with everything +30 days free) I digitally downloaded my expansions as they came out :(

The box states that Desert of Flames includes the original EQ II aswell.

Ah ok, well that is strange that it wouldnt list that the 30 days was included.  I, personally, would assume that it would be. Again-- Im probably no help to you whatsoever, cause all of my answers are speculation :p

PS: At least its keeping this post bumped for someone else to see and respond :p hehe

    thanks ;)

Well I would assume so too, really, it's just I don't want to end up paying for the whole first month and not be prepared

I say install it, give it a go... and if you have to pay, bring it back to the store, make a scene, get FoE, and install that, or start a new acct.

    Cheers,

strange, i'm looking at my DoF box right now, and at the top it says it requires the full version of EQ2, where as my KoS box says it includes the full version. As far as I know, EoF(retail) comes with the EQ2, KoS,DoF, EoF +30 days free. The retail version of KoS comes with KoS and EQ2 + 30 days free. The original EQ2 comes with just EQ2 and 30 days free. and DoF just comes with DoF.

I believe DoF is an adventure pack, not really the same as KoS or EoF.

If you buy the EoF box you get the original EQ2, KoF, EoF, and the 2 or 3 small expansions that they released in the last 2 years for 29.99.  Well worth the money.

No, DoF is an expansion pack, not an adventure pack, and no, you do not get the 3 adventure packs when you buy EoF(retail), just the expansions.

    You are incorrect.

DoF was a full fledged expansion, actually it was the first one.  The adventure packs are, Bloodlines, Splitpaw and Fallen Dynasty.

Now, that said, return DoF to the store you bought it from and buy EoF for around the same price.  That way you get DoF, KoS and EoF along with the retail version of EQ2.

And you are right.  I was mistaken, I signed up for the station access at the same time I got EoF and I think I must have got the adventure packs when I signed up or something.

    I apologize for my mistake.

The 30 day trial is only valid for NEW accounts.  You may not even get it if you add it to a trial account.  Also, if you sign up for Station Access when you register a new account, you lose the 30-day trial, but you gain the 3 adventure packs and extra character slots, which is a decent tradeoff.

DoF does include original EQ2, it says so on the top right of my box.  Doesn't mention anything about the 30 free days however, but i would assume that it would when registering it on a new account.

But like mentioned earlier, take it back and swap it for a few dollars more for the EoF pack.

ah I think it depends on the region. The EU and AU versions which were published by ubisoft had the original EQ2, the NA versions did not.

Just double checked, you would be correct, never thought the two releases would be that different.

Looks like the NA version requires original EQ2, and when i looked on Amazon it does actually state that accross the top of the box.

I may just start a new account. Is that allowed by SOE?

P.S I purchased this brand new copy of DoF off Ebay. It's incredibly difficult to find any EQ's in stores where I live. EoF is even harder to find. I'd have to order a copy from America. You can't get a UK copy off amazon or ebay.

Amazon.com sells EoF retail. Also there are many sites (Direct2Drive) that sell retail EoF CD keys, that you can use after downloading the client from SOE.

EQ2 unlike WoW  is not regionalized.  So it doesn't matter what version you have.

It is regionalized in the sense that it will default to regional servers when you first log in, but you can switch to any other server at any time. If you have a NA box you will start out looking at the NA servers unless you switch.  If you start out with an EU box you will see the EU servers which include the French and German language servers.

    Hello,

I do plan to purchase EoF sometime, it's just that I don't have much money at the current moment and I'm moving house. When I do get the money, I will most certainly get EoF.

    Thank you

(not sure about the whole DoF thing...I think I'll keep it despite EoF)
