Extremely tough time decided weather I should get this game or not.
Unfortunately I singed in way late for the Stress Test Weekend, so I only got about a half hour of play. Didnt give me a big clue on how the game was. I for one did like the graphics, and lag wasnt bad at all. Gameplay seemed much like WoW nothing to interesting but not boring either, entertaining for a bit a most.
So my question really is,
What are some pretty good reasons why you want to buy LOTRO and what appeals to you about it.

LOTRO is all about quests
I figured out , it is like they took DDO , learned what went wrong - and made LOTRO.
So expect game that is based on heavy storytelling, interesting quests - which are often in instances. But much less social depth.
All in all. If you want very entertaining MMO to play until WAR or AOC comes out. You can not go wrong with this
"Before this battle is over all the world will know that few...stood against many." - King Leonidas
It IS pretty. But [like many pretty things] does it lack depth?
Maybe we'd be better leaving it for a year/sixmonths or so for some more content to come out. Expansion packs etc.
Truth be told the one 'flaw' [not really a flaw but something to ponder] I am a level 16 Hunter...and up to press I have done very little, [and i mean maybe only 2 quests] in a Fellowship, or Group.
This isn't a BAD thing, but I would like to see some more group action in the lower levels.
Perhaps I suppose that this is one issue with the fact that it is in BETA and there aren;t so many people playing.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
How very true.
And if anything kills LOTRO (for me) it will be this.
But than again. I never heared one conversation, almost nobody speaks in general. And people behave like they are complete asses that dont speak word of english...
It is the BETA thing i presume.
And when LOTRO gets live. And real players start playing this will probably change (hopefully)

Not sure what you mean by this... are you saying that no one talks in the general chat? If so, check your chat settings and make sure you have OOC (out of character) chat enabled. There's SO much chat in there, that I've actually had to shut it off a few times so I can concentrate on fellowship chat or combat.

1. Great story lines for the quests. I've found that a lotof the quest story lines really can make you feel like your character is in a setting from the books (i.e. the elven brothers quest - forget the name of it).
2. Innovative quests. Yes it has the kill x number of this type quests, but a lot of the quests are there also for when you want to mellow out. (i.e. the Hobbiton mail quests...although some people hate this quest)
3. The graphics in the game world are great.
4. The Founder's deals (either $9.99/month subscription fee or lifetime subscription for $200.). The lifetime deal will make this a MMO that you can take time off and not feel like you're wasting a monthly subscription fee.
5. For the most part I've found that the community (in Beta at least) has been one of the best that I've been in.
This game will not be for everyone. But I'll be getting it because I've found the Beta to be extremely enjoyable. And the dev team really seems to be on the ball as far as tweaking and improving.
These are some of the reasons I am buying LOTRO:
Great story line, "Tolken"
Great graphics: very beautiful to watch
Great servers: no lag for me!
Great animations: even the npc are doing different things. Not all the same looking. The combat actions is cool to watch.
Don't need a high power pc to play it: my medicore pc is playing it at high settings and its great.
Great involvement: I get to rub shoulders with Gandalf and other famous npc, and the talk to me, doing part of a quest with me.
that is just a few reason why I love LOTRO!
well one reason people dont group much at low levels is because its pretty easy not to, you can still do almost all of the quests. But as they tweak the game and make it more challenging, I expect that will change somewhat.
And of course its beta, which also explains some of the soloing and the fact that people dont talk as much. When the game goes live, people will be vested in their characters and they will interact more with others who they may be playing along side for many months.
Elladan - ESO (AD)
Camring - SWTOR (Ebon Hawk)
Eol & Justinian - Rift (Faeblight)
Ceol and Duri - LotRO (Landroval)
Kili - WoW
Eol - Lineage 2
Camring - SWG
Justinian (Nimue), Camring - DAoC
If you preorder you get to retain at least a server's worth - 5 (or more maybe) of your characters, from OPEN beta. All closed beta will be wiped after March 24th.. I think that's last day of closed.
March 30th, open beta begins for preorders, April 6th open beta is available for everyone else. Come April 24th when the game goes live pre-orders keep their OPEN beta characters and the rest get wiped.
Now the real game begins and everyone who is just buying it starts fresh just like any other game and those who bought into it early have the potential to start a few levels ahead.
Level cap in open beta is 15 I believe and crafting is open. So come release noone will be above level 15, so it's a headstart but not a big one. The main purpose of a 'head start' being to get clear of early quest spots before the big rush. Not, for myself anyway, to be able to hit 50 first.. I won't be, I'll be taking my time and enjoying the ride.
