Hey guys,

I'm sure you've all heard this a million times before, but I hate searching through hundreds of threads to try and find some answers that people can tell me off the top of their heads.  So I appologize ahead of time for asking the same old questions :)

Anyway, I played SWG right after NGE launched because I had heard about NGE and all the great things it was going to do for the game.  I liked it, espeically being a SW buff to begin with, but it was so buggy and unplayable, I didn't last more than a month.  So, my question is: have they improved on the game much since NGE first launched?  The stability issues and the gameplay issues that I've heard so many people complaining about get any better?  And if I was going to come back to the game, what server actually has some people playing on it (and I'm in EST/GMT -5, would like some people on when I'm on)?

Well, thanks ahead of time fellas, any info you can feed me would be much appreciated.

Yes, the game is much more refined then it was the first few months after the NGE went live.

There will always be people complaining no matter what.

The game is much better now and the NGE is a thing of the past.  You can rebind your mouse  back to the way it was and targeting has changed as well. I posted the way to rebind keys in one of the threads here.

Lots of new stuff has been added and more is coming in Chapter 6.

I play on Starsider and there are plenty of players on that server.

Yup, they're returning all manner of pre-NGE game features all the time.  They're not as well done as those same features were in the pre-NGE game, but they're finding ways to bring back many of the elements, and keeping bringing back more with every Publish.  The game has always been buggy - despite the promises to the contrary, that has never changed, whether pre-CU, CU, or NGE.  The coding skills of the $OE devs suck (IMHO), one dev group doesn't communicate with another like they should, etc., so don't expect the bugs to be gone.  Heck, bugs fixed last chapter/publish often return with the next, it's been that way since launch.  But yes, they're adding features, many of which are revised versions of previously-existing features that were removed for the NGE.

The features you claim were better pre-NGE is what a lot of people claimed to be broken and needed nerfed.

Take CH for example, some players abused that skill and used pets in game breaking ways.

People moaned and groaned about getting the game to go gold and the Devs were told to push it out as is to keep the customers happy.

Now they have to start from ground up and fix what was rushed out.

As a whole, yes they were better.  CH was broken at times, but it was fixed both preNGE and preCU (especially when they made it a blatant rip-off of WoW's hunters).  On the whole, CH wasn't broken for any extended period of time.  By the way, your argument is about past game discussion and not about current game discussion, take it to the other forum, per Stradden.

As for how the game is now, they're reintroducing elements they had to remove because the current dev coding skills weren't up to incorporating them into the NGE framework.  Many of the feature (but not all) are not new - they existed before, but understand it is in general a reintroduction, a regifiting - it is not an introduction of never-before-seen features and elements.  The game, as it exists now, it only beginning to return the breadth of the preNGE game.

Well, that got a little off topic, but I got the answers I needed.  Thanks guys, much appreciated, I think I'll give it another go.  Oh, another question that has nothing to do with this thread, but are there guilds in the game that are still recruiting?  Especially me being a BRAND new player, I feel not just a little overwhelmed (like in every MMO).  I could definately use any help/guidance that could be offered to me in game.

And from my limited time playing before, I know that the sandbox aspect of this game makes it pretty important to get in with a good group of guys to make the game fun.

There's a list of guilds and what they're all about in the link below.
