Just signed up, what you said is true to much graphics less gameplay, if you look at most game these days 70% graphics 30% gameplay, still playing RO and still like it.
dont talk about a game you dont know anything about. its not even a mmo its a competitive online role playing game (corpg). it has awesome pvp one of the best ive ever seen. the missions tell a story you ever done those? it actually has a point unlike other games where you just randomly do quests until you hit lvl cap. plus its the highest ranking game on this site so maybe that means its pretty good. it has places that are sorta like dungeons, story missions, lots of pvp options, quests, hall of heroes, guild rankings, its a good game you have to give it a chance. now if you dont like this type of game thats yoru opinion but dont go talkin bad about a game you have no interest in because you just dont like this type of game.

I played GW extensively and I don't like it, I have given it ample chances to be good, in fact that's it's problem; once you've made your 17th warrior or whatever class you've pretty much seen it all, a dozen times over. I'ts not an RPG either, it's no more RPG than picking up 2 rocks, writing a name on them with crayon calling one "Melissa the half naked elementalist" and the other "uberwarrior" and then chatting away.
It's shallow beyond shallowness. Granted the Tyria storyline is very nice but the game is just too short to be a proper MMO (which in fact you stated, so props for that). The PVP is certainly not the best ever, it's not bad but it's very twitch based. Ultimately GW fails to give me a reason, a goal to keep playing apart from gaining fame and rank. I'm not even going into the whole heroes debacle, NF practically made it into a solo game.

why would you make a 17th warrior? you should make one of every class. do every storyline with each class that will keep you busy. also with a expansion comin out every 6 months you get more stuff to do.

and Saraelion (spelling sorry) I totally agree with u... alot of these newer eye candy game just focus on graphics and PvPing... PvP is definitly fun, but its way too repetitive...
Games like Ultima Online, or Everquest1 had more of a goal... keep hunting, deal with the grind, because the grind is what really seperates the n00b's from the veterans, to the high levels, to the highest levels.... and then the Uber players.
people always complain about grind that its boring... well u can take the #1 top player in all of guild wars... and he has not worked harder for where he is, than any of the top ten players of any of the however many everquest1 servers in the entire game... becoming amazing in those heavy grinding games like EQ takes ALOT of time, and ALOT of persistence...
I had a level 60 monk, and I was semi-uber when I quit... I had my epic weapon for one... do u know what it took to get that fuckin thing? I had to go on a quest that took months.. i had to kill multiple mobs that took over 30 people to kill, and my final MOB was actually 2 mobs, and then once they were dead, a crazy uber MOB popped instantly, and then we had to continue fighting although already winded... thats not to mention the sub quests of my epic quest.. like navigating tthrough the plane of air, while trying to get a stupid feather i needed... or the RANDOM/RARE spawn "Raster of Guk" that I had to camp for god knows how long... i think I sat there for about 72 hours feign death in the middle of Lower Guk... and after killing him.. he didnt even drop what I needed... luckily, it took only 24 more hours for him to pop, and I killed him, obtaining what I needed... and this is only part of the Epic weapon quest that I did for one piece of UBER ass armor... there are many many more.... like getting a full suit of ToV gear which took many many ToV raids.. just to get one piece... and how about just to enter ToV, the number of frost giants I had to kill all fucking day long just get my velious dragon faction up...
now keep in mind when I played EQ i was like 15-16, and didnt have a job, so I had the time to do this... now a days I could never put the dedication into it... which is why some of these less deep RPG games come in to play... but still no game will ever give me the fun I got out of Everquest.. and I know ur thinking.. that doesnt seem fun to me... but it really is... because alot of people go through that same stuff.. and in the end... when I put on those Epic MOnk gloves I had worked so ridiculously hard for, and people saw me walking down the tunnel in EC with bubbles coming out of my hands... they all knew.. and I knew they knew... and it just felt good... and then when I went on my text raid.. with my 40% haste CCoM stacked with my epic 40% cast haste.. attacking 80% faster, and seeing my attacks 3 or 4 times, between everyone elses (were talking 20 melee on one MOB) it felt good, and it was worth it.. it was a game, remember, and thats what makes the game fun... when u hit that level of feeling better than everyone else.. and you know what was even cooler than that... to see a monk walk by... with 10x better shit than me... the next day ... i knew... and he knew i knew...
some people might think this is the dumbest thing ever written, but hopefully some people (probably alot of hardcore EQ veterans (before it got gay)) can totally relate to this....
I used to play GW, and one day, out of curiousity, I downloaded a 2d mmorpg, 8 months later and I'm still stuck to that 2d mmo and still getting sleepless nights playing it, I even let 2-3 pc's run it now. When I tried GW again, I can't even stay to play it for 30 minutes. I even own uber equipments in GW and even got lots of shards and ectos. and in this 2d mmo, I'm a nobody. Now, whenever I browse mmorpg.com, I always look at the screenshots of a game first, and I now find the 2d games more interesting (I even downloaded a 2d game which is on the buttom of the gamelist rating). Is there still hope for me?

i tried maple story... though it looked cool, but it just plain sucks...
it could be a better game... but they need a bigger world, a better economy, a better community, and really hard mobs that need like 25+ people to kill, that game is like a solo fest... all grouping is, is a bunch of people in a group, running around seperately killing everything in site... its stupid...
and again, the community blows hard, bunch of fuckin KS'ers who have never played a real MMORPG
