I think we still gota remember that this is still in beta, things will change.  Wait and see what it is like a month after launch, me I am going to pre order  to get that life time price.  I also do like the PvP in this game it is more skill based.  That is the reason I love Guild Wars, very much skill based PvP.   The WoW PvP where there is always one class the owns all the other classes is not fun to me.  And lvl 60's running around in starting areas killing people is not PvP it is called pointless.

I think there is a problem in your choice for the title of this thread.

You were "hopeful". So You built up expectation. That is a source

for much disappointment in the world.

If You try to "expect the unexpected" the next game it might help

    You more.

Perhaps - I - like this game so much because I forced myself

to expect - nothing - when I started.

What You expect is almost always not what you get.

Don´t want to play the wise guy or flame You. I´m just trying

to pass on my own experience...

I tried the same thing on the VG forums with all the people that felt "let down" or that thier "expectations" weren't met.  Ask anyone that makes a comment like that what they expected and they never respond.  It's an impression that have, vapor, there's nothing there.  They "expected" to like it and when they don't they get all pissed off about it.  Childish really.

BTW, I'm not refering to the OP.  In fact I thought the OP's post was fine.  He listed what he didn't like about the game and was done with it.  Albiet a pointless post, but so are 99% of the post on this site; so I can't really hold it against him.

Once again, theres a lot of hypocrits on these boards, but I also think that most of them are young and think I'm refering to some sort of cookie so they don't really know what I'm talking about.

Everytime you see PVP being brought up it is always in the context of wanting the danger of leveling up and having someone kill you, but in reality what that person really means is they want the right when they are a high level player to kill low level players.
Skill based PVP games more and more are games that allow for as equal footing as possible in a MMO, such as DAoC, WoW's Battlegounds, WAR, LOTRO, etc.
Gone are the days of Asheron's Call Darktide server or Ultima Online when it first came out.  This type of PVP is just too niche for MMOs now adays.  The only game even close to that type of system is basically vaporware (Darkfall).
Thanks for that bit of info.  I always assumed that PvP meant Player versus player.  Thank you for clarifying.

I don't think the complaints about the two games are that similar though.  If someone had an idea how gameplay would be and then they are disappointed that it isn't what they expected, that is one thing.. To be disappointed with the performance and technical aspects of a game is different, IMO.  I think people are right to expect a game to run smooth, or be fairly bug free.  Those kinds of expectations should be met by the developer.  They don't represent a difference in taste of philosophy.  The developers want the game to run smooth and not be a bug-fest too.  When they fail in that aim, people are right to call them on it.

In regard to the people who argue if vanguard is hard core enough, or feel disappointed by "the vision", I agree with you 100%... I just don't think those are the main complaints people have about vanguard.

Why is that hypocritical? LOTRO is a brilliant game, so the OP must be a troll, and it seems reasonable to defend it against trolls. And Vanguard is complete rubbish, so it is reasonable to warn people off it in the Vanguard forum (I wish someone had warned me off it before I wasted $50 on it). Their behaviour seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Because people made the same comments about VG that the OP is making about LoTRO and getting flamed for it.  That's hypocritical.

Preach one thing and practice another.  They act just like the people they acuse of bein "vanbois" that is why I said it.

Having an opinion is having an opinion I don't care what it's about, telling others they are wrong for thier opinion and then having one of your own is hypocritical.

I find it amusing, but I'm not suprised.  It falls in liine with the mentality of a generation, one that I am part of, and participate in.  I don't claim to be above it, and am quite the hypocrit as well.  I was simply pointing it out.

Did you post hate threads on VG?  Are you feeling guilty?  Disire to defend yourself?  If not, then why do you care?

Think a lot of people are mis interrupting things , I think what vangaurd fans have a problem with the truth of the game they chose. The truth is bad, and they seem to really not want to except that, so they come here and try to flip what is said about vanguard , so itcan be said about LotRO , and the simple truth is , it can't

Here are 2 facts that i'v come to see :

    1. LotrO is polished , and ready for release

        Vanguard is/was not

    2. The so called "bug" of LotRO are so few and far between , you forget your playing a beta

Vangaurd CTD , Glitches and is very choppy which makes you feel like you are in a beta

Yet people are hypocrits because they can see an obvious flw in a piece of merchandise.

Not quite adding up for me yet. Maybe you can point out specific posts and or thread that displays "true hate"

Also feel a lot of posters are starting to feel alienated on this forums becuase a good portion of the moderators ARE playing vanguard, and they are moderating the forums in a biased fashion.

LotRO may seem dull to some folk, but for a lot of happy people it is a chance of a life time , like myself, to live a be apart of a world that was apart of our childhood as well as adulthood. That is fact that only a few games can hold dear, Vanguard is not one of them .Live Long and Prosper

    What?  You lost me man.

Why can't someone dislike this game, VG, WoW, Eve yadda yadda.  I mean, why is this such a big deal to people around here.

Why did you quote my post?  I'm not even following a correlation between what I wrote and what you wrote.

Thanks for confusing the hell out of me.

    Huh?

I think the people eover here are a lot more thick skinned in general than the Vanbois are for sure. We all trash games occasionally, the one post wonder troll accounts are the ones I never take seriously though and was referring to on my last post. You see them on every forum, this one VSoH, WoW you name it. Troll alts who are too big of buttheads to post under their normal aliases.

Anyway I was PO'ed at Turbine after last weeks  patch hosed up the economy and armor values and said as much right here. Thankfully 2 hot fixes later the game is back to where it should be. Now if they can get the crafting to where it is worth while, but I doubt that will happen before release. Everything pretty much works otehr than it is just a money sink right now though. SOE and SIgil need a good trashing after the mess they made of Vanguard and still cannot get sorted out. McQuaid needs to find a new line of work  in my opinion.

Ah, dude man, I aint got the motivation to go creating account after account just to bash a game.

Whatever is whatever, people don't like they don't like.

Just don't get bashing each over a matter of opinion is all.

I really have been trying to play nice with the vanguard boys lately. They have enough problems between eveyone else bashing the game, Sigils "patches", Brad's switching direction with every interview, post, and plan. It's lke picking on the fat kid that rides the short schoolbus.

And I can definitly understand why they are feeling a bit intimidated by LoTRO. Funny part is on 06 April everyone can DL LoTRO and make up their own minds for free for about 2 and a half weeks, all the trash posts in the world will probably not alter a single persons opinion or prevent a single sale or subscription.

    2. It would be nice while playing music if you could hold your notes out for more then 1 note. I know this is silly and really doesn't change a thing, but seeing as this was my favorite part of the game it did disappoint me.
    3. My biggest complaint though is that armor and weapons are just dull to look at. Maybe I never obtained the highest end equipment, but you shouldn't have to reach the end game to look decent.
    1)  Yeah, I had a problem with that too but it is a matter of logistics, important for things like mail addressing, auction bidding, quest tracking, all the behind the scenes stuff.

    2)  They are adding the ability to hold a note as long as you keep the button pressed, should be in by Open Beta.

    3)  Try to remember that this is still beta and they are constantly adding/upgrading things.  After last week's huge update I logged in to find my hat, while still my hat attribute-wise, now was a totally different style and with much more color and detail.

If you still have your key log in and check it out.

Also to the poster who was saying the game is just too easy, well last week they made it a lot harder.  Maybe too hard, they were fining tuning it yesterday and again today.
