The perfect game o.o

AlloyAlloy Member Posts: 13
Ive been looking at different games for months now.  I really want to hear other peoples opinions on games they like and why.  Ive been looking at fourms and everyone seems impatient and hates grinding >_>; so find a game that theres no grind and post. I really dont mind the mindless grinding but theres so many flames and its very quite annoying.  Alot of people say you get what you pay for and it seems true but could there be examples where it isnt? like are there free games were "alot" of people like to play (like is an opinion so grinding or no grinding)

So point of all this... Your favorite MMO and why.

    /start semi-biased-fanboyism

I like wurmonline because so many of the actions that I do change the world and community.  be part of a town even if it gets left behind you have permanently changed the structure of the land, from moving dirt around to changing the species of trees that are in the area, to semi-permanent structures.

I also enjoy the PvP that people seem to think of as hardcore. Skill loss, item loss: for the skill loss you level up again 3x as fast(and increase you characteristics faster because of it), and 99.999% of all items are player made. Also theres kindom V. kingdom PvP that can result in parts of towns getting flattened. However the only common PvP that happens is the kingdom v kingdom and its not a particularly common occurrence. (theres also the more popular home server that has no PvP on it)

While skill raising can be time consuming for 95% of the community they're doing something productive(spending a quite a bit of time making healing materials which are needed does has the side effect of increasing your skill, same goes for making weapons, armor and tools). And for raising the fighting skill you are for the most part exploring a 16Km by 16 Km map(256 square KM)

    /end fanboyism

some obvious killers to people's enjoyment would the fact that whatever you do sticks to your name, and the fact that it is a first person perspective.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

Currently I've been playing a lot of doujin shmups because the provide more gameplay in two  minutes than most MMORPGs provide over several hundred hours. In fact, most regular RPGs can give you more game in a much shorter period of time than any given MMORPG.

My suggestion is to grab NWN or it's sequel. Their are plenty of persistent servers out there with small, close knit communites that are far more mature than anything you'll find in an MMO. Aside from that, I would suggest Guild Wars. It's not an MMORPG, but if you want and actual GAME and not a glorified chat room, this is the place to be.

oh yeah, I almost forgot Planetside and Boundless Planet. Being as the former is an MMOFPS and the latter is an MMORTS, you're going to be doing more than spamming buttons so that you can reach the next character level or get that l337 piece of uber l00t.

The perfect MMO will be a game that actively engages you the entire time that you're playing instead of during those rare moments when you have to adjust your stats or equipment loadouts. So far I haven't found an MMORPG that does this.

a swiss army knife of an mmo doesnt exist and never will.

furthermore if it did, i wouldnt want it.

i play 3 mmo's for very different reasons.

guild wars for fast, perfect team based pvp that is balanced.

lineage 2 for my hardcore fix

and city of heroes for presentation, fun, storyline, and good quests.

not one of these games is better than the other.  each is good at what it does and furthermore, im not tied to being one thing in one place.  sometimes i want to be a knight, other times, the last thing i wanna see in the world is a sword and shield.

    Games i'm playing right now...

Didn't they indefinitely shelve the development of that game along with a hundred other MMOs they were trying to make at the same time? I think the OP is looking for something he can play NOW and not something that exists in the baffling nebulous era of "soon."

Im also looking for a good MMO.

I have my eyes on Darkfall, no grind, open PvP, player economy, full loot, mounted combat, multi personal ships....but it wont be released in a year or so.

2 hours ago i tryed Wurm Online, it was fun. maybe i stick with that.....

Then it really isn't anything we need to worry about right now. Sorry Paul, but we've all fallen victim to hyperbole before. When someone asks me what my favorite game is, I limit that to games I've already played. Now if you were to ask me what game I'm most looking forward too, that would be a different story.

In the case of MMOs, the best two best games you'll ever play were your first one and the one coming out that promises to be just like it only better. Personally, I've always thought that MMORPGs are complete crap. I stick around because I'm waiting for a developer to get it right. UO and EVE were really close. The trick is to make an approximation of a world that doesn't demand huge chunks of players real life. So far, we have themed chat rooms that do not approximate a world and still require 40+ hours a week.

I refuse to speculate on upcoming games since devs can promise anything they like. I want to see a finished product and not take some marketing prick's promises at face value. Just my 2 cents.

hmmm wurmonline is my game right now,  though TCoS is pending judgement.

it seems like 90% of the games out ther werte aoll made from the same engine and verry little changed except for the names....example Lineage2 and last chaos.    Last Chaos didnt even change the graphics for the characters you pick from lineage2.

A good game out there atm in my opinion is 9dragons and 2moons, at least until some others ones get released. Both free to play.

If you go look them up you will see immediately why i think so.

You're thinking of "The Chronicle" by the shits at MMOcenter, not "The Chronicles of Spellborn".

lets see.. perfect game... nah cant think of any, it's all about what you make of the game you're playing, all games have some extent of grind, then there's roleplay, and the community, my ideal game is a game that has a functional gameplay a factor of "oh this is advanced and interesting and i can use alot of time understanding how it works to get good at it" also a good community where a question doesn't get answered with "stfu& l2p n00b" is prefered, and if I can find someone to RP with that doesn't constanly go "LOL ur s0 /¤&%/" is nice >_> *sigh* hard to find these days it seems.. Well well.. I'm trying Vanguard at the moment, so we'll see how that goes, community seems quite varying and so does RP so, we'll see ^^

    Ah the perfect game...........

A land where carebears, and elitist Roplepalyers roam free in the fairy fields, and hold hands and sing to each other, being slaughtered in the mass PVP fields 1 by 1 or mass carebear slaughter..........

haha! I'd like a game where you got missions from other players to kill the carebears :P *RAWR!* though ofc, I proplably wouldnt pay for it ^^ As long as people don't start whining I'm happy, They can go about slaughtering me, as long as they dont mind me slaughtering them back :P hmm this gave me an idea to write a article actually ^^ thanks

ooo, thats an uber perfect stratedy.  have a F2P game thats hight quality and open PvP.  item shop ofcourse since you hardcoreies will do anything to get that 1% advantage...  needless to say I'm playing a wurm on the PvP server which is very hardcore but fits all types in it.
