I am pretty sure that most issues people have with the UI could be resolved by :
- actually doing the tutorial, provided they weren´t arrogant enough to cancel it first on !! Infact, this is the most important point on this list, by miles.
- asking in corp chat, provided they didn´t quit the npc corp right away !!
- try out all the little buttons, r-click options and whatnot. You actually CAN´T break the game by pressing the buttons on the UI.
- make a search on the net. There is TONS of informations on every aspect of EVE to be had. The ability (and general inclination) to read is an advantage .
And if what you really want is WoW-style hotbars, then you didn´t (and probably won´t) play eve long enough. Hotbars would just look silly and be more of a nuissance than a help. For the few standard actions there are in EVE, buttons are provided on top of the overview window. Again, tutorial is king.....
I've done the tutorial several times. Hotbars (dunno about WoW style, I assume they're pretty similar to the market standard) would still be immensely beneficial, especially for things like orbit range and drone control.
It isn't so much hotbars that are important, but the customizeable macros they entail.
The drone interface definitely needs an update, and they have stated that they have now hired someone specifically to work on all things drones. Also both the drone and gang windows should be moved off the overview but one thing EVE DOESN'T need is macros, nor does any other game really. If you want to do something do it yourself, not some stupid macro. They just make it easier to bot with. You misinterpret the meaning of "macro". I'm talking 3 lines max, so at most with a hotkey you could send in your drones, activate your MWD, and set an orbit range. I'm not talking huge botting crutches, just hotkeys like the market standard.
