Had to vote "avoid it 4 sure" - just really not what I'm looking for. If there were certain fundamental things tweaked with it (lose the zones/instances for instance) I'd definately reconsider, but I think beta was enough of a taste to know that its not for me. But good luck too it - the whole "u can make your own songs" thing is the RADDEST thing i've heard in awhile and every game should bring the goodies like that. The rest of the game though made me snooooze...
It does need a bit of polishing.. and if they were to release it today I'd have mixed emotions.
On one hand I'd be disappointed in them for ruining a potentially amazing release by pushing it out a minute too soon, but on the other I would be ecstatic, finally able to sink into the game and stop /bugging every little thing I come across.
Myself, friends and family have already pre-ordered.
One of the most polished closed betas i think i have ever had the privledge of playing.
I think it goes without saying that given the correct attention by Turbine, and the correct polished level and amount of consistent content updates and expansions Middle Earth will finally be realised in the online space.
Im glad this game is here because it proves one thing for me as a games player...and that is that a highly polished and story driven, well performing gaming experience, is still paramount for a good sized majority of the MMORPG community today. Whereas as (full credit to it) Blizzards WoW started the benchmark by defining what it is for the MMO gamer to recieve a polished product in terms of release code, performance and playability, Lord of the Rings and Turbine will drive home the final nail into the coffin of the old school mentality of releasing sub par applications and patching / fixing / adding half finished content off of paying subscribers money...and good riddance!!
You didn't put the option for "I think it's amazing but I'm addicted to Vanguard."
If I wasn't so busy at this point in my life I would buy it just to play a few hours a week because it's that nice, but I am that busy. 14 hours a week of Vanguard is an extreme luxury when you're planning a wedding and running a business.
Oh and Battle Stations Midway for the 360 is tearing a new hole in my time too.
Im very pleased (and amazed) that you are getting to play that much.
She needs to get you on a tighter leash. ;-)
In all seriousness though congratulations to you i hope you enjoy the BIG day.
Also very pleased you are enjoying vanguard...however in the current circumstances and general opinion i doubt your suggestion of a poll addition would garner anything but a tiny amount of the percentage of the vote.
Glad you are enjoying Telon. Now where oh where did i place that pipeweed.......

Exactly what I came out of it feeling like. Some of the models and hair styles in character creation really suck too, and the fact that they couldn't make a way for you to have hair and hats at the same time. Not only that, but how they said leveling in the final game is gunna be slower than it currently is (can't imagine that) in closed beta. Too slow in my opinion.
When it comes to MMORPG, even graphical flaws like this stick out to me like a sore thumb. But I've realized, it seems every single MMORPG out there has been designed by people who don't know the meaning of true immersion: eliminating every graphical realism issue, and implementing creatively explained and made plausible game elements. I'm looking for the perfect MMORPG, and it has yet to be made. With how I've played nearly every MMORPG ever made, maybe I should start trying to design one myself, and see if anyone wants to develop it.

The Devs explained in a long thread why there is the problem with Hair and weapons sticking through the cloak.
It's not a flaw but they had to choose of two evils.
There is a reason why hair and hats are acting the way they do.
I can't find the thread right now but will keep looking for it.
Don't get me wrong i love LOTRs but Im undecided but leaning to buying/playing it. I'm just not a big fan of the games you have to pay per month to play, I wish there was a way to play it for free but have limited options or what not. Maybe thats why i've been playing the other F2P games... that have the option to pay. I know I know if it was a F2P the graphics and playablity wouldnt be as great as it can be. I'm just a poor gamer...lol =8-)

I know what thread you're talking about. It was a good read. I can't remember exactly where on the beta forums it was and I'm too lazy right now to go find it. It does exist, though, for any who doubted it.

It does exist, though, for any who doubted it.basically it would take to much cpu to render cloaks that used physics to wrap around the weapns and hair. The cloaks would have more layers in it and each and every cloak would have to be had rendered around everyweapon which would take a very long time. So basically they went with this to save on gpu and time .I remember that post also, bottom line is that with todays technology it cannot be done. I remember it was a weekend night and one of the devs was posting from home while relaxing a bit.
