Hello! Thinking about EQ2

uruku_xuruku_x Member Posts: 129
I've been in need of a new MMO for awhile now and my sights have finally set on EQ2. I tried the Play the Fey a little, diddn't much like being a fairy, trying the Isles tonight.

Anyway, got a question for ya. I've been thinking about being a Dark Elf Assassin or Swashbuckler and am wondering, how are these classes in a group?

They came from the sea and they came from the sky, Captain America is going to die!

Both work well in groups. They solo fairly decently as well but are not quite in the top tier. Assassins are one of the top DPS classes in the game and can transfer hate to the main tank which makes it a lot easier for them to hold aggro.

Swashbucklers and their brigand cousins are probably one of the more powerful classes in the game at the moment. They still do high DPS, often out damaging pure DPS classes, but are more versatile. Brigands are the kings of raid DPS due to their debuffs, while swashbucklers have defensive oriented debuffs and some taunts so they can off tank. Both have group stealth, tracking and some other useful abilities.

Because they are a good only class and Dark Elves start out as Evil, to be a Dark Elf Swashbuckler you need to start in Freeport as a Brigand then betray to Qeynos. It’s a little inconvenient, but I like the fact that it gives you some uniqueness. I have a Dark Elf Berserker and Wizard, both in Qeynos, and it isn’t very often I see another character like mine there.

Thanks for the info, very helpful! The whole betraying thing blows my mind, makes this game seem like it has a bit more depth than some others.

I'm a swashy and I tank raid mobs. In fact <spoiler alert> there is one raid X4 named that has to be tanked by a rogue.
