So I played this game a millennium ago when it came out back in 1999, and I've heard about the new level cap that came out with the latest expansion. I was wondering, is this level cap a true hard cap? I seem to remember when I played that the "cap" was 126, but in reality with all the xp gathered after that, someone could actually be greater than 126. For instance, someone would have the stats of a lvl 200, but on IDing the character, it would only list them as 126 in game.
I'm thinking of coming back after getting bored with WoW, since AC is the greatest game ever known to mankind. Yeah, I said it. 
If i do come back, which PVE server has the highest population of real playing people nowadays (not macros or bots)?

I'm really curious about that too. I just got the game downloaded and got my trial key ready, just need to know which pve server has the most active population.

It's not a hard cap. You continue to gain xp. I'm level 254 right now and I have every skill maxed. I had every skill maxed since 240. I have 24 billion unassigned, which is enough to max 6 skills.
