I've recently noticed.. that more and more new people are getting onto the forums becoz of the contests and their post are very low .. you get what i mean..
Well a large factor of holding those contests is for advertisment of MMORPG.com, but we do hope that those people stick around .

Thats nice, but some people will stay and continue to ghost this site. You see, theres alot of people out there interested in mmporgs but don't really care abt posting here. For example, its been 2 months since i left doac. I didn't play any mmporgs for abt a month and during that time while i ghosted a number of forums, i really didn't want to discuss them. I 'm playing ryzom and Ballerium atm, so i'm back into the mmporgs. So i'm willing to post here. 2 months ago? pure ghoster
lol... Flaming, you signed up on 11/25/03 and have 125 posts. Is that a good indication of a person who has been signed up for 5 months posting? So thats approx 25 posts a month or 2 (ish) a day....
lol... i'm not accusing you of anything, I'm just increasing my post count, so that you'll feel more secure about me. You see i did sign up when i saw a contest. I didn't win . but oddly enough I've stuck around. Perhaps theres a fair number of people that do so also. Posting in the forums is not a requirement for membership with the website. Theres a fair number of people who are just not interested in posting in forums. And yet, they'll check this site once or twice a day...
Try Ryzom, its quite funky. I'm not sure how i'm going to like it past level 32, but so far its nice. Other than that, I haven't found any that i like. Doac while one of the best out there, kinda burnt me out, for the traditional mmporg type (AC1/2 etc)
I assume you have some form of broadband? Get a cheap modem and connect that way to Ryzom. I'm using a 56k modem and i get hardly any lag. I'm in Ireland so our infrastructure is still quite lacking
I've been here awhile, although I don't post like I use to (didn't like getting hand spanked) I still post from time to time. I love being here for the information I get from the boards and all you good people. If I should have a question, I no I can ask and someone will have a logical answer.
Just remember, mmorpg may have alot of members, but drawing in new members is always a good thing. And mmorpg has gotten very good reviews as a site, that says something right there.
pride is all very well and good, but they control your current connection. If downgrading (no need to actually give up your current connection) means that you can play the games you want to play with no detoriation of gameplay, then why not do it?
True enough. I don't know how much connections cost in your part of the world. I pay 20 euro a month for 30 hrs on internet access. Any access pasrt that timeframe i pay extra, but to be honest, due to my job, its hard for me to get that time. I darsay you could get a cheaper access package. But its your choice
Lol. Mind if i try your CoH account? Oddly curious abt the game, and missed beta

it's illegal to talk about trading/selling/giving accounts hre i think :P.. im not sure abt giving.. but im sure selling and trading are :P.. anyway.. hmm.. give me 20 good reasons and you can add me on my msn and have it ..
Flamingboi, enlighten me why it is a bad thing that I signed up due to a contest?
I am active as it is right now
Before this contest I did not know this site existed, I only heard from a friend because of the contest as he knew I was into Dragon Empires
People can spend their time as they like, your statement is like saying I was here first, so i'm better, mainly because I didnt find this site via a contest but something else. a bit of self praising?
Have a drink, there's room for everyone, including those who signed up just for a contest IMO

I rarely ever post but yet I'm still considered a hardcore member. That's because I only post when I have something important to say and this is why my rating is where it is. People are under the misconception that raising their post-count to over a million posts will earn them a guaranteed spot in the beta contests and increase their rating. That is...a misconception.
This is one of the main reasons I actually frequent these forums, because the admins do a tremendous job of weeding out the kiddies. I've won 2 out of 3 contests I've entered so far (and the 3rd contest hasn't been drawn). My suggestion would be to frequent the site, read more than you write, and when you do post say something worth reading. I'm sure this practice will make for a much better chance of winning.
Actually AFAIK contest winners are found with the aid of an algorithm making it completely random who wins. But other than that you are absolutely correct, one shouldn't post just to be able to get into one beta or another, it would be easier on us all if only proper posts were posted.
9 hours till you can wave good bye to all those you apparently don't like, must be a bliss ehh flamingboi? Ahh well, I'm off to make dinner, good luck tonight everyone, and try not to make the admins life miserable after the contest flaming everything - it gets you nowhere at all.
