TC players are going lose everything for a new server

That's right folks, TC prime is getting a new fresh database. People who had their mains on TC will lose everything. Looks like some of the players are rather pissed about it.

Next week we are going to take the current Test Center database offline and replace it with a fresh database. What this means is that all player characters, player structures and items on the commodities market will all be removed from Test Center and you will be given a pristine galaxy to test in.
This new Test Center will never have Character Builder Terminals (Blue Frogs) placed for the public to use. It will be a pure testing environment that will be a perfect mirror of a Live server. Players will be able to level characters from the start on a new server and create a fresh economy and player cities, something that has not been seen since SWG launched oh so many years ago.
The original Test Center database with all the old character and items will be mothballed until we need to allow players to use Character Builder Terminals, at which time it will be brought online on a second server that will be accessible through the Test Center Launchpad. I would expect to see the old Test Center database online during the two to three week period before we release a new Chapter. Once the Chapter is released, the old database will once again be mothballed until the next Chapter or major content release that warrants the use of Character Builder Terminals by players in a test environment.
Why are we doing this? The answer is simple, the Character Builder Terminals have turned Test Center into an invalid testing environment for the majority of the testing we do. Everyone on the server is level 90, so experience progression is not being tested. Players have millions of resources and frog granted kit, so the economy is non existent. The value of the Test Center has been greatly diminished, and we feel that the only way to make Test Center a useful testing tool again is to start over with a clean server and keep it as close to a live environment as possible.
With the relaunch of Test Center, the QA team will also be working to reach out to the test player community so that we can build a great test environment together. We’ll not be handing out resources or deeds, but we will have some incentives and perks that will be available to regular players on the Test Center who help us test changes as they come down the pipe. Vrixx will have more information on these incentives later.

What it means is that they are continuing to listen to us on the forums. It has been brought up again and again how more bugs would be found if the test center was actually used as such. Alot of us requested the "blue frogs" be eliminated, due to such problems as the last XP bug introduced with chapter 5 because everyone on test was level 90, so noone noticed the XP discrepancy.
As far as people losing their items and what not, it is a TESTING server. It is not, and should never have been seen as, a live server. Anyone who bitches and moans because they put their mains there have nothing to bitch about. It's their own damn fault. Anyone with half a brain knows the difference between a TESTING and a LIVE server. If they don't, they do now.
*Games on our site will be treated just as we treat people. Unsubstantiated comments about specific or general games will be penalized in nearly the same way attacks against people will. The exception is that you can say mean things about games provided you back it up with reasons.
Example: "Game X sucks." is not a legitimate comment. "Game X sucks, because..." is acceptable.

So when they go to "test" something it will be in a complete and total vacuum compared to the reality of the live servers. It's like testing a new drug on a computer model with no regard as to how the person being moddled has actually aged over the course of x amount of years. Expect a helluva lot more broken "patches" by going to something like this rofl.
On top of that long before the CU there were 2 test servers. There was the original test center that had been wiped a couple times, and then there was the iteration test server. This last test was typically a copy of a more populous server (bria ahazi etc) that had blue frogs and stuff so that there could be a live testing environment. What happened there?

Could this be a ramp up to something? Maybe live server will get fresh databases in the future to make way for server consolidation in the later. Or maybe they'll just make 4 fresh NGE only servers and that'll be the game. No more elder rewards ect. Everyone on level playing fields.
I kinda feel sorry for those dedicated players on TC prime now. A long time ago during the CU I made a thread bitching about how the TC people must not really test shit due to all the bugs that kept going live. Later I learned that the TC players were the hardcore dedicated bug testers. They really did report the same stuff we saw but their reports fell on deaf ears because SOE had strict publish deadlines. If a bug popped up on TC during testing it would go live and fixed in the next development cycle. Props to those old TC players who will be leaving or are no longer there. They actually paid the $14.99 a month to test stuff in the hopes that the live game would become better.
I think this further illustrates the problem with the remaining NGE player base.
They are all "special" kids.

Yeah, I'm feeling the same thing. Of course it still wouldnt be the same as what we remember as being a "real" fresh start the first time we played.
I havent been tempted to go back to SWG in a long time. A fresh server is tempting but still not enough for them to get money from me again.
But I have like 6 months free with all the emails they have sent me since December

I know you're able to take this view of TC becasue you've played on that server since the first speckof vitual dust there became Mos Eisely. Those of us who played there more recently, in the times since they have not wiped the server on a regular basis, see it more like the live servers it was theoretically supposed to echo.
This is in fact, a continuation of the don't give a rip attitude SOE has towards its players. There do not need to be an conspiracy theories about what might happen when they merge servers. Look at how the folding up and transfer of Japanese servers was handled. Those people lost alot and no problem--live with it. Look at how clumsy after all this time character transfer is between servers. If you think for a moment they can merge servers cleanly, or that they even care if its a smooth operation, you are just...too trusting? Too willing to shrug off anything they might toss out just because they can't do anything right anymore at all?

Ahh yes that server merge for them went well didnt it? LOLOLOL...
I want to see the servers get wiped and let the product stand on it's own without the previous players or people that came on board to get free Jedi... THAT is what I would like to see.
The NGE fresh start.. no money , nothing on all the servers THEN see how that goes.
That would tell the truth about the product more so then the hang ons from previous versions... or because they got the free bees for coming on board with the NGE.
Hell, it's only like 25k players... whats the big deal? lol
