Have you or Will you be pre-ordering the Lord of the Rings Online? I would like to know, I'm considering it because I'm having a lot of fun with the game. Although I'm a lot more excited about the expansion plans for this game, think of the possibilities.

i am in beta, and do enjoy it, but i wont order it because there is no pvp endgame or significant pvp in the game.

    its a good game though

Yes, I will be pre-ordering.  I'm really looking forward to this game.  But, to be honest, I'm even more interested in playing Gods & Heroes.

Going to be preordering special edition very soon.

I am in beta, and I am loving it. It is becoming love/hate because I will cry when my character gets wiped. I am also wrestling with avoiding the main storyline until open beta/release.

I can't put to words why I love LOTRO so much. The only thing that comes close is it really feels like a perfect middle-ground between a game like WoW and a game like Vanguard.  The part of me that wants instant gratification and not insanely hard/everyone you know on the internet needing to be there for a quest is satisfied, as well as my closet power-gamer/roleplaying nerd who wants lengthy quests and cooperation with others.

I was looking for something to tide me over until AoC or WAR, but this may just engulf me.. Seeing as how by the time those games release, I am sure there will have been a lot of added content through patches and a retail expansion on the horizon presumably =P

It isn't for everyone, but it is for me =P

  • I'm definatly considering Pre-Ordering, I am enjoying it. I don't really need PVP in a game for me because I don't like PVP at all. I would like to see some Roleplaying in the world maybe when the game launches. I guess I'm going to have to look for some, such as Hobbit Roleplayers and the works.

I do like it though, I actually don't think I've played a MMORPG as polished as this is in Beta Testing, true there is still some polishing to be done.

I probably won't go for the lifetime deal though.

yeah, I do love MMORPG's that are based in places that I can reconise and connect with, I never really feel connected with WoW because of this. Although this won't beat the original SWG for me, it will be fun to play especially if there a good Roleplaying Community. Probably pre-order it later today.
  • I'm not sure if the Special Edition would be worth it, not sure.....

I won't be preordering, and probably won't be playing either unless there's a free trial. The game still looks and feels too much like DDO for me. As well, it doesn't feel like they're doing anything unique. It feels like just another fantasy MMO, and a near carbon copy of a mediocre one that's already been released at that.

When the newbie area looks like ass, even at max setttings, you really can't expect much for the game.

Have to disagree, graphical it looks very nice. True there isn't all that much unique but with a game like this you have to think of it's potential and being Lord of the Rings there probably will be a good fan base for a long time.

you guys need to stop wasting your moneys on half finished games like this without anything new and innovative...

    its a shame, really..

this game is nothing but average at best, just like saga of vanbois :)

Now Saga of Heroes is one of the worst MMORPG's ever, that game wasn't even finished and thank god I didn't buy it. Got to play it at a mates house and didn't like it at all.

I'll spend my money on games I enjoy and I've been enjoying this..... my money, my choice......

I dont think he has played the game guys, just leave him to his mothers tit.

I played the beta for a bit and having to zone when you walk in a building turned me off. So no pre order and not even considering playing it.
  • gozzgullgozzgull Member Posts: 71
It takes litteraly a second to zone into a building, if you are that impatient please DONT play, but if it took a long time for you, go back to bestbuy and get a better computer.

Played and still playing beta, preordered and will be doing the lifetime account sucscription.

I've been playing mmorpgs since M59 and UO and have played almost every mainstream (and not so mainstream) mmorpg to date and LotRO is just a really fantastic game with more polish than anything I've played in the past.

I beta to TEST, not to play... but I have to say... this beta is so much fun to play that i almost feel bad not paying for this :)

Looking forward to open beta and release too :)

Well said... I don't go back as far as M59, and only peeked into UO.. I played a good bit of EQ, but DAoC was the game that got me hooked on the MMO genre. Since then I too have played almost every major release and am happy to see LOTRO kicking ass already :)

Lifetime sub is tempting, but a lot of cash up front. Especially since, generally speaking, I have the attention span of a cocker spaniel. Preordering and locking the $9.99/month on the other hand is a no-brainer.

Heh! Me too! In fact, my wife uses that exact phrase to describe me all too often ;)

You know, maybe the 9.99 is the better way to go after all :)

Well, either way it's a good deal for such a great game :)

I bought the preorder, beta tested, and have cancelled my preorder. I find the game boring. Note, this is my personal feeling about the game. I'm not saying everyone will find it boring, I'm not saying that it's technically unsound (I've beta tested games for over 10 years and this is the most polished, from a technological standpoint, I've ever participated in). I'm not bashing the game, I'm stating my personal preferences, so you assholes who attack everyone who doesn't share your view that LOTRO is the second coming of christ can save your sub-literate chest thumping for someone else.
