Map Needs an Overhaul

There is one aspect of the game that is driving me crazy, the in-game map when you press 'm'.

Though it looks pretty, it is largely unfunctional- at least for me. I am currently in Bree and when I press M the bap is HUGE! I am but a tiny dot on the massive map with my only bearings being the huge names of only a few places. This makes it difficult to find where I am looking for.

I wish - and don't flame me for this- the map was more like WoW's. There is an exploratoin factor with it, the map is only large enough to encompass the needed area and you can uncover the location and have them appear on the map so you remember where things are. To make the map more useful- especially in Bree, they need to divide it into specific spaces- like The Old Forest, Bradywine Hills, Bradywine Forest, etc. Not have all of those places crammed into the HUGE map, this will give more of an idea of where spaces translate into others, so people aren't lost. But then you can also have larger map of Bree when you zoon out.

But it's not just in Bree, maps need more (and smaller) text with locations noted - when we have now when we press 'm' just is too unfunctional.

Sorry, this is just probably the one thing that drives me insane.

It would help a lot if we could annotate the map too.

I don't want a map of Old Forest. Who would have mapped Old Forest? Tom?

I'm fine with this current map. I've done all the quests so many times already I know where everything is.

Do you have all map filters selected btw?

I agree...the mapping in LotRO is one of its weaker aspects.... but its a small world so not a big deal....

Has even anyone ever made a really detailed map of Middle-Earth? I can't remember anyone using a map in the books.

The map is fine the way it is. Its set up to make you explore and see everything. I find it easy to find quests with this map as there is a big gold ring where the person is. In FFXI ther was no notification of which person you were supposed to speak to.

Previous: FFXI, Dragonrealms, sad little stint in WOWland.
Awaiting: Fallen Earth, Hero''s Journey, Tabula Rasa, Age of Conan.
