about patch 3 or 4, i remmeber patch 6 as the best, wassent that imperial crack down? god damn that was amazing, rebels and imps overt and fighting, traps for rebels in star ports, yell and gun sounds in bestine... wow what a party, players everywhere, laser, jedis, creatures, amazing i just say, amazing memory
I was fortunate to scrounge some beta disks from a local retailer, and got to play the last 2 weeks of beta.
From there, like everyone else on June 26th / '03, I tried relentlessly to log in all day but was ultimately denied until the 27th.
I rememebr speaking with a friend on the phone as we tried to pick a server to begin on. I recommended that we go about half way down the list because the servers were FILLING up so quickly and we wanted to ensure we were both on the same server. We eventually choose Lowca where we remained until the NGE.
In the 2 years we had pre-CU I never once heard anyone say that it was too complicated. I did however see many people leave because of SOE's inaction on implimenting MORE complexity.... i.e. more factions, more professions, more skills, more content, more of everything - not less.

Same here basically, I could not log on the 27'th
At midnight, on the 15'th of November 2005, I drank a bottle of Bacardi 151 and uninstalled SWG. On the day before I deleted all of my characters except for the first one I ever made, I just could not delete/kill him. And I still have not gotten over that bitterness, when I think about it, I just get pissed.
Suvroc, you are so right. All I heard from everyone in my guild was how much potential the game has.
I heard the same things...more faction: Imp, Reb, Hutt, Jabba and Nym faction with Imps and Rebs battling it out, Hutt, Jabba and Nym fighting it out. Interior housing for Jabba faction at Jabbas palace; Interior housing for Nym faction at Nyms fortress; planetary control with worthwhile bonuses for said faction.
I've tried all sorts of games and cannot get into them...they have no endgame. SWG was the only game where I didn't master an Elite profession for a LOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGG time, because it wasn't that important to me. It was a goal, but it wasn't the grind. Too much other player created stuff going on.
EQ2, WoW, Vanguard, EVE, Lineage2, FF....nothing there for me anymore.
Launch up until the NGE, I had a full template jedi with all my gear maxed out. I had an awsome 2nd char, a bunch of houses, etc....Had a blast with SWG but it was all ruined when they came out with the NGE. It changed the game way too much, it lost its fun factor and it lost all the good players.
That summer and fall was some of the best gaming I ever had, or probably, ever will have.
